I've just read my roundup.
I'm not on here as much at the moment as real-life if seriously getting in the way of my mumsnetting.
But I've just had a good old chuckle at the round up and wanted to say how bloody funny you all are.

Big pat on the back to StealthPolarBear for the surreal bubble comment. Loving it.

(Dragonbutter/Nevergoogledragonbutter here. Just pissing about with my name for MrsMH's sake.)

It was indeed hilarious.

But WHY did I write Brussels sprouts? They are Brussel Sprouts, or brussel sprouts. Or maybe an apostrophe - Brussel's sprouts? I feel like I've spoilt it for everyone.

morningpaper · 17/07/2009 22:06

oh you wrote something slightly different to the version I used

I wasn't sure

I assume that Gerry would know, because she knows Things About Words

morningpaper · 17/07/2009 22:07

For example if you write 'Anne Summers', Geraldine will say 'Duuh! There's no E in Ann Summers!'

Hassled · 17/07/2009 22:08

Phew! I can hold my head up and look you all in the eye again.

largeginandtonic · 17/07/2009 22:09

Oh i did laugh too my cheeks ached

Well done MP.

stillstanding · 17/07/2009 22:14

Am that not everyone gets the roundup in an email ...

JackBauer · 17/07/2009 22:17

I don't get my email anymore. No warning, nothing changed, you just stopped sending it

gigglewitch · 17/07/2009 22:18

another round of applause / giggles [obv] here
loved it, MP.

stillstanding · 17/07/2009 22:19

Oh the brussel sprouts - so funny, Hassled! It's like reliving it all again. Think I am going to file it for posterity.

Theteathings · 17/07/2009 22:33

very bloody funny all of it

bravo mp

ZephirineDrouhin · 17/07/2009 22:50

It was very very funny indeed - I nearly started a thread like this too. Thanks MP (is Iorek here btw). Bran, dd asked me what was so funny too and I also said it was a joke about spelling. She wouldn't let it drop ("what is the joke mummy? what is it? WHAT IS IT?")

Bubble retort v good too

Was brilliant [2nd only to the one I made it into once]. I laughed out loud and had to explain the whole thing to dh. Brussels sprouts line was genius.

RemusLupinInAWizardsuit · 18/07/2009 00:00

Ahem.

I believe I have been in it 3 times.

You may bow if you wish.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 18/07/2009 00:12

Oh, this thread did take off! Good.

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 18/07/2009 01:33

I had tears flowing with laughter too! I loved the scared of dogs vet and the gog with a belly button and am giggling again whilst typing it!

GiraffesCanRunA10k · 18/07/2009 01:41

Am off to read it now...

GiraffesCanRunA10k · 18/07/2009 01:57

Excellent

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 18/07/2009 02:05

Gog?! gog?! dog obviously!

StealthPolarBear · 18/07/2009 07:56

Just read it now, pmsl at the grammer police

StealthPolarBear · 18/07/2009 07:57

BTW if we're sucking up to morningpaper, can I just say I wait for the round up appearing in my inbox every friday (well apart from yesterday it would seem ). I know I can read it on the site but it's just not the same

PrefetParfait · 18/07/2009 08:43

FAQ I think that you used to be on AOL. AOL notoriously blocks many of the MNHQ emails.

If you look on hte right --> the roundup appears there everyweek anyway - I have given up with AOL and just link to it from here.

gill89 · 18/07/2009 09:03

I don't get my email anymore. No warning, nothing changed, you just stopped sending it

can someone post it on here please?

i feel like we are missing out.

FlappyTheBat · 18/07/2009 09:14

That will teach me to have an early night and neglect my mumsnet addiction duties

Have just read the bounty thread

HelenMumsnet · 18/07/2009 09:24

Morning!

Those of you who aren't getting your Talk roundups: you can always catch up with them (and the MNHQ newsletters) here

If you haven't subscribed to it yet, you can do so by clicking the box in your email options on your registration page

And if you've already subscribed but aren't getting it, try having a look at BigTech's troubleshooting tips

If you've done all that and STILL aren't getting it, it could be that your mail system is rejecting it as Spam. Some systems automatically reject emails containing certain words beloved of Spammers

I think there may be a way round this by 'whitelisting' our emails but we'll need to have a chat to YetMoreTech before we can tell you more...
