I went into new because I was promised that I could order 'threads I'm on' by most recently active, not by when I last posted on them. Has it happened? Noooooo.

About now, Reality.

I have HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOJ big gaps now, I have to scroll down past the adverts at the side to get the rest of a thread. It's annoying.

The gaps aren't blue, they are white. And there's none on this thread. It only happens when someone with a huge names posts near the beginning of a thread - so then the post has to appear below the adverts to fit the name in, meaning a huge gap gets left between their post and the one before.

NOOOOO there are now HUGE blue gaps in MN new.

It is made worse by the fact that there is now soo much stuff on teh right (which is great BTW).

here is an example. If you the thread with oldest at the top Draco's post is horrid. Well not her post but her blue bar at the top.

I admit though - it isnice to see the full names.

Can I suggest some potential solutions to consider?

1. Could we have the name on a seperate line to the datestamp andreport post/contact poster at the left? That way there would be more room for the name?
2. Could we get rid of the "add message" text? Frequent MNetters know that if you scroll to teh bottom to add a post. This would make room for longer names
3. Could we have a hover over teh truncated name function which would then display the full name for those that want to see it?

Only trying to be helpful.

Because the combo of lots of sidebar itemss and long names really is awful. And I would rather have the side bar than shorter names,

Suggestion number 4.

Give us the option in the customise page to see truncated names or full names

Just put the date and time stamp under the name - surely that would be very easy to do and not spoil the look at all.
