On the subject of deleting threads...

Would there be any way of a thread being frozen after a certain number of complaints until MNHQ has time to look at it?

There is an incredibly offensive one in Active Convos which divvies keep bumping because they are understandably outraged, and it's been going for ages without deletion, presumably because it's the weekend.

It is not nice to think that groups like the BNP are able to come here and wind members up, and if a thread could be frozen after, say 25 people reported it until you had a chance to assess things, at least the trolls would stop being fed and it wouldn't stay active to offend and upset even more people.

Just an idea- I'm not sure how workable it would be?

i think it's a judgement call for the newer people at MNHQ and my impression rightly or wrongly is that justine would be more lenient as the owner of the site and her underlings would be more cautious and sometimes make what i'd consider to be bad decisions.

I must say though it does annoy me when troll threads are deleted, sometimes the evidence is blatant and it would help other posters to be able to read them.

psychomum5 · 13/06/2009 12:27

oh, I'm sorry......was you wanting to wind me up till I had a tantrum and threw my axe at you???

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 13/06/2009 12:42

I think they escaped that daftpunk as they really were very quick to remove it. It's not necessarily a good thing to post the need for a translation of terrorist literature on the web though to be honest. Crazy!

daftpunk · 13/06/2009 12:47

oh i agree...what were they thinking!

the Bond films always make me laugh..he's supposed to be a spy but everyone knows him...he can walk into any bar in the world and get his vodka martini..

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 13/06/2009 12:49

Mmmm Vodka!!! I wish I'd have paid more attention to that thread, then I may remember who the OP was so I can tell if they are still around. Oh well!

policywonk · 13/06/2009 13:12

Righto Devil Don't you know that's an ANTI-FEMINIST question?

Bunny, the case you describe is a bit different isn't it? Fair enough to delete when it comes to explicit incitements to violence. I mean, if the OP on the thread we're talking about had stated that rape is just fine and all men should do it, I'm sure it would have been deleted in a heartbeat.

Psycho, I think I must have missed a few threads - I'm not sure what you mean about the axe but I'm sorry to hear about the incapacity.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 13/06/2009 13:15

I posted on that, it was really insensitive and it should have been removed, as should have the one about an OP being sick of reading about husband's leaving in the relationship section.

psychomum5 · 13/06/2009 13:26

ah, tis OK, I have had an axe since halloween, then kept it for troll issues

thankyou for the sympathy.....am on the mend now, but had a very deep rooted mole cut out my leg last week, and the recovery has been very painful. stitches come out monday tho, so nearly back to full fitness.

well, if I allow them out.....am terrified and they not offering me gas&air for it. never had stitches like these before....always had disolving ones. these are not nice!
