Well done Stig

Your hard work is much appreciated (by some of us anyway )

Yes good job mn techs, well done

Gorionine · 30/01/2009 10:08

Well I am a bit split, I prefer to read the threads the way they are displayed now but I find it hard when going on "active" or "thread I am watching" It actually hurts my eyes to read the new way it is displayed!

MarsLady · 30/01/2009 10:10

You've worked hard Tech. Well done you.

I still don't like it though!

Threadworm · 30/01/2009 10:10

Thank you very much for the hard work, but it is a shame that there is now an automatic cut-off for thread titles over a fixed number of characters.

It means that many more thread titles are uninformative. It also means that well-composed/funny/etc thread titles lose an awful lot of force.

I really hope this can be changed. (And also that the font can be made bolder for those of us with less and perfect vision.)

girlandboy · 30/01/2009 10:11

Well, I quite like the layout however.........I don't like the fact that the different colour thingy has disappeared from threads I have already looked at on the active page.

I liked that bit

And we didn't get any more emoticons

BecauseImWorthIt · 30/01/2009 10:12

Ooh - that was a bit of a shock!

Still, I found Active Convos quickly, which is the way I read MN, so it's all fine.

For the moment ...

Good work, TechsInTheShed

Tortington · 30/01/2009 10:13

Bumping for the more appreciative folk

OP posts:
hifi · 30/01/2009 10:49

are there any profiles anywhere?

2shoes · 30/01/2009 10:51

yes well done tech. it will all be fine

fryalot · 30/01/2009 10:53

hifi - I can't see profiles either, we were talking about it on the "about the new look" thread

Tamarto · 30/01/2009 10:53

I said it on one of the other threads but thank you, i like it lots.

Tamarto · 30/01/2009 10:55

*thank you for all the hard work everyone involved put in.

How did i manage to lose a sentence?

RustyBear · 30/01/2009 10:59

For every one who is moaning there will be lots who like it or don't mind either way, but don't post to say so, so I hope the Techs will consider the bellyaching constructive criticisms to be helpful, not a slap in the face.

It makes me glad that I work in a junior school, so when I change something on the website or on the computers, the kids say 'Hey, that's cool' , not 'Change it back'.

And generally speaking, they do say thank you...

So thanks Techs

VinegarTits · 30/01/2009 11:05

Yes, why is it the older you get, the more resistant you are to change?

OP posts:
PerArduaAdNauseum · 30/01/2009 11:08

I like the new layout - am also missing the changed colours on threads I've looked at.

One reservation - like the logo but is that a formula bottle on the right hand side?

coppertop · 30/01/2009 11:11

It's going to take me a little while to get used to it but I actually like it.

Normally I'd be racing to find out how to switch back to the 'old' MN but this time I'll be keeping the new version.

VinegarTits · 30/01/2009 11:12

I am liking the new 'moon' watch too

It will be interesting to observe MN during the next full moon

RustyBear · 30/01/2009 11:38

Thing is VT, I'm older than most of you (52) and I like change. Maybe working with young children has kept me immature young...

fryalot · 30/01/2009 11:42

rustybear - isn't it about time you had a birthday? you've been 52 for the last two years
ever since I've known you

RustyBear · 30/01/2009 12:01

I was only 52 in August squonk!
So I suppose I'm actually 52.5 now

hippipotamiHasLostTwoPounds · 30/01/2009 12:30

squonk and hifi, to see someone's profile you click on their username. I was desperate to see mine after I thought it had been thoughtlessly discarded by Tech, and found it by some random clicking

hippipotamiHasLostTwoPounds · 30/01/2009 12:30

argh, I ballsed up their didn't I? I should have said that I have superior IT skills and hence knew instinctively where to find the profiles...

fryalot · 30/01/2009 18:24

hippopotomi - I can see a profile if I click on the username of someone who has one, but there is no way for me to know who has and who hasn't.

Also, there is no exclamation mark, so if I felt the need to report a post, I wouldn't be able to.
