I for one feel there is a lesson to be learned from the Moldies debacle. I have been posting much less as have become increasingly concerned about info on here about my dcs, in particular, and so post less. There are those who say well you should be careful what you post, etc. But i think the quality of advice i can give is diminished because i always have to think twice about how much to reveal - the same goes for asking for advice. Yes, you can namechange, but then you lose your posting identity and it is harder to build up posting relationships. I really feel that as it is not that hard to register, and as so m any here have had problems with trolls, that at least part of the site should become register only. MNHQ could you consider please?

i agree blu...mumsnet is a brilliant site.

gorionine; if you get reported you get an email from mnhq....i've had one (maybe 2? can't remember)...i'm not sure if you can be reported without ever hearing from mnhq?...i've never reported anyone.

I usually stay well away from the serious troll/drama threads.

And I agree with tmmj I think some people enjoy being a part of the drama as much as those who are creating it. So much so that they fail to see it's all attention seaking crap.

I think most threads where someone is posting regularly in the heat of a crisis is a troll.

followed by a long posting silence while other posters respond with "are you ok? please let us know you're ok? does anyone know the op in rl? maybe someone could go round there...."

But then once - the poster was well known and loved, true - that 'are you ok...does anyone know where she lives' saved someone's life.

Anyway - this thread is about whether being a registered site would improve it..

wannaBe · 05/01/2009 13:46

clearly.

oh, just searched for the pirate sex noises thread...and that is sooooo funny!

Well, I am a member of two other sites where you have to log in to read posts. With the result that I hardly ever post there and don't really "recognise" people there like I do here. One of them also has avatars and tickers!
