'Tis the season to be jolly - allegedly. But does the potent mix of families and enforced 'fun' trigger festive flashpoints? Our slightly random poll goes from the sublime (the true meaning of Christmas?) to the ridiculous (Christmas at home versus Christmas on a sun-drenched beach?) only takes a few minutes and you'll automatically be entered into this week's competitions. Thank you in advance

Christmas Greetings everyone.
What a year we have had. It started on January 1st and isn?t quite finished yet. I haven?t time to set down every last detail but needless to say it exceeded every expectation. Quite extraordinary how things have panned out. Looking forward to receiving an update on all your news too.
Yours in brevity
Family X

oops wrong thread
Have done the poll though

roisin · 13/12/2008 22:49

I struggled with what answer to put for Q4:
And who will you actually spend the bulk of Christmas day with this year?

My mum and brother come over, but dh cooks lunch at church for us all plus anyone else who wants to join us who would be alone at Christmas, or doesn't fancy cooking for just the two of them, or whatever. So far this year I think we're expecting 20.

So it's not really any of the options given. But I chose one at random to tick anyway!

merrylissiemas · 14/12/2008 09:00

done!

PinkPoinsettias · 14/12/2008 11:57

q 6 is annoying me as there's no option for picking both a and b. we'll be at home for half the day and at my parents for half the day.... surely a common enough situation to have an option for it?...

mrsmHARKTHEHERALDANGELSSINGet · 14/12/2008 13:09

no question 2 here either!
have no partner, my brother coming down but no option for any other family members all questions biased towards those with partners

PuzzYuleLogs · 14/12/2008 13:09

Done, no Q2 either. However I have made a guess at what it might have been an answered C)

If you weren't bloomin pregnant, how drunk would you be on Christmas day?

A) Sober as a judge
B) A bit squiffy, but still responsible
C) Singing loudly and getting raised eyebrows from in-laws as you feel up DH in their presence for the hundredth time.
D) In A&E where someone mistakes you for Jonny Vegas

Bring on 2009

RustyBear · 14/12/2008 13:55

I'm sorry, I couldn't complete the poll.
I intend to spend my christmas with my family, my son will split his christmas between myself and his father's where he will also be with family.

Unfortunately this is simply not an option with your poll. I believe the split christmas is standard with separated families so why is there no option? I think perhaps this should be addressed.

As it stands, I cannot respond to your poll.

Sorry.

rebelmulledwine72 · 14/12/2008 18:40

Done.
But I think there should have been a "never believed in FC and neither do my kids" option

lauraloolajinglesalltheway · 14/12/2008 19:52

Done!

nowwearefour · 14/12/2008 21:37

done. interested to know what you will do with the results

S1ur · 15/12/2008 00:55

I have done it.

I say this because clearly if you don't say you've done it, then Gerry's fingers get cut off one by one. Which let's face it would make wrapping presents a PITA.

BroccoliSpears · 15/12/2008 09:06

I wonder if I will be the only respondent who answers
Q5: Would most like to spend Christmas at home.
Q6: Will actually be spending Christmas on a sun-drenched beach.

GerryChristmasMumsnet · 15/12/2008 10:23

Slur, an tpygin's a bot diffucilt too.

[Brings whole new meaning to the digital age, or in my case digit-less]

BS, I was just wondering if anyone was actually going to answer those questions that way round, sadly I'm the other way round...

Done!

whyme2 · 15/12/2008 13:36

The sun drenched beach is actually a windswept farmhouse in scotland, but it is FAR away from all relatives.
Also FC is a pretend story in our house, ie my dcs don't believe and never have but hopefully they won't spoil it for others.

notbusta · 16/12/2008 09:43

Impossible to fill in if you're a lone parent - of course I will be spending Christmas with DCs but without partner - as I haven't blardy got one! Thanks for rubbing my nose in it at this sensitive time of year mumsnet..
