Can't log in

lets me put all the details in and says welcome Riebee, but at the top of the home page says I'm not logged in.

If your computer is set not to allow websites to set a cookie, you can't log in. The only real issue this should cause you is that you won't be able to do "threads I'm watching" and "threads I'm on". You can still read everything, and you just need to enter your name and password in the boxes each time you post (if you are logged in they are filled out for you).
