Why are photos (being posted on threads) taking 20 to 25 minutes - or more - to be approved?

Just as the title says really... I posted a thread about half an hour ago, about a bad experience at my hairdressers, and I posted 2 photographs on it.

As it stands, right at this minute, nearly half an hour in, the photos haven't been approved. This has happened to me a few times now, and sometimes it makes the post not make sense - not until the photos show.

What's going on? Usually, it's quite quick - within a minute. Even late at night it's only 2-4 minutes.

Been nearly three quarters of an hour now, and my photos are still not showing. Very frustrating. They were a key part of my thread.

Because not so long ago, some troll decided to spam various MN boards with CSA images, causing understandable and significant distress to users who inadvertently saw them. So now all pictures need approval.

I understand this @KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying but they are normally approved quickly - within 1-4 minutes. It's been three quarters of an hour now. I have messaged MN twice, 5 minutes after I posted the thread/the photos, and 10 minutes after that. I have heard nothing. And my photos are still not showing.

They just appeared!

I still wonder why they took so long though.

Thanks for reaching out. From looking at the thread, it looks like one of the images may have been flagged for manual review. When that happens, it can sometimes take a little longer for our team to get to it.
