Could Mumsnet tackle early morning AI spam and market research posts?

Between 5 and 7 in the morning there is a flurry of crappy AI posts for health products or the same AI using MN for market research for their AI generated education normally send or maths. Can you do something about it please.

I do a lot of reporting of these posts and I’d love to know why some of them are immediately hidden, yet others aren’t.

I agree with you OP.
I report them when I see them but the sheer volume of them is quite ridiculous.

Hello @Itshotinherebutainttakingoffmyclothes we’re aware of this pattern, particularly the early-morning bursts of low-quality promotional posts and faux research threads.

AI has made this kind of spam much easier to produce, though sadly no more interesting to read or less annoying. We’re continuing to tighten our detection and removal processes, including around the repeat formats you mention. The spammers posting them do adapt quickly, so some will still get through, but reports are genuinely useful in helping us get them down quickly. Some will be auto hidden depending on the volume of reports. Please do keep reporting them when you see them. Thanks.

I think MN do quite a good job of zapping these. With the spammers shifting and refining their techniques all the time, it isn't surprising that we see quite a few slipping through.

And it isn't really that much of a hardship to see them. They are almost always pretty obvious, so surely it is easy to let your eye glide past them as you do with other ads?

Sometimes they are quite fun anyway. I enjoy seeing the targeting fail of (e.g.) German-language ads for erectile dysfunction aids

I think the biggest issue for users is now people have the option and use AI generated titles it’a becoming tricky at that time in the morning to know if something could be a genuine post before you open it.
