Is anyone else finding Mumsnet VERY slow at the moment?

Is anyone else having a problem with MN being REALLY slow at the moment.

Suddenly it seems to be hard to post or change topics - are there new updates, adverts or scripts that might slow it down?

It is only affecting MN and not the other sites and message boards I visit

I cant look at mumsnet on my work computer at lunchtime (I am allowed to in my break) because it freezes the whole thing and I have to shut my pc down.

AmeliaPMumsnet · 17/07/2026 09:56

Morning all,

Sorry you were still experiencing issues yesterday evening. There was some residual slowness whilst the fix came into place.

Can you please let us know if everything is back to normal today?

Thanks for your patience!

PinkHairbrushClub · 17/07/2026 10:03

Seems ok again for me today - iPhone on browser

Lunde · 17/07/2026 11:31

Incredibly slow since 9 o’clock.

MrSchubertWhiskers · 17/07/2026 22:58

@AmeliaPMumsnet thank you, it seems to be working OK this evening

AmeliaPMumsnet · 20/07/2026 16:03

Hi all,

Apologies for the delay in responding and that you continued to have issues with the site being slow.

Everything should be working properly now, but please let us know if there are any further issues. Thanks so much for your patience!

What’s this gobbledygook?

What’s this gobbledygook?

Yes - I've had this several times today

  • upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. reset reason: remote connection failure, transport failure reason: delayed connect error: Connection refused

I've also had the slow speeds several times - some posts take about 20 seconds to post and a beige/brown header appears on the bottom of the screen with more gobbledygook while I watch the circling of doom 😕

Now this keeps happening

Bit slow and glitchy for me tonight. Maybe my internet connection, but pages are taking 20 seconds to turn over instead of like 1 or 2 seconds...

What’s this gobbledygook?

I had that yesterday.

The site slowed down the minute the truncated post feature was introduced (on the 16th?). I know that’s been turned off now to some degree, but the slowness and various weird glitches remain.

This happens on my iPhone and my laptop, different browsers. It’s definitely a MN thing.

Rainbows246 · 21/07/2026 08:03

Yep.
When clicking posts it’s slow to get there and keeps reloading When you get there they don’t load up properly ( tons of adverts tho so figured it was that.) This page has been fine funnily enough there are no adverts to load on the page.

AmeliaPMumsnet · 21/07/2026 14:41

Hi all,

Thank you for sharing details about the error you're seeing. We've made some further tweaks to try and remedy this and are continuing to look into it.

Zov · 21/07/2026 14:42

It seems back to normal today @AmeliaPMumsnet 😘 Thank you. xx

Lunde · 23/07/2026 22:25

Back to snail speed tonight - some issue with having to verify Cloudflare

OP posts:
MrSchubertWhiskers · 24/07/2026 07:31

@Lunde yes slow last night for me too

AmeliaPMumsnet · 24/07/2026 14:26

Hi @Lunde,

Thank you for flagging this. We're aware of the Cloudflare issue and are looking into a number of possible solutions. This is happening because we're seeing periods of very high traffic at certain times of the day, which puts pressure on our servers and causes additional security measures to kick in.

Could you please let me know:

  • Do you usually stay logged in between sessions, or do you log out and back in each time you visit?
  • Do you know if you're accessing Mumsnet in incognito or private browsing mode?

Thanks for your patience.

Lunde · 24/07/2026 18:27

Hi
It's been much better today

  • I do stay logged in
  • I don't use incognito

Yes, me on iOS using Chrome. The ads are bloated and slowing down the site. No other website has the same issues. Back to DuckDuckGo for me.
