Allowing posters to delete history just because people didn't agree.

I very rarely start a thread - but referencing this one as an example of what I'm annoyed about. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5547583-aibu-to-feel-gen-z-are-ruining-my-holiday-in-dangerous-heat-wave?reply=153186089. You allowed the OP to ask for it to be deleted because she found the responses upsetting. She was ageist, entitled, at times racist (if only everyone was Christian) and didn't like it when people disagreed - since when did MN allow people to delete their trail of offensive thinking? It's a useful tool on a forum to allow people to understand when to engage with a poster to be able to look at posting history, she seemed genuine at first but her subsequent posts were more informative.

You can’t see everyone’s posting history anyway because people can name change whenever they want. Mumsnet delete way too many threads for no real reason, but from what you’ve said it sounds like it was a thread that didn’t need to exist, deleting racist content can’t be a bad thing.

Hedgehogforshort · Yesterday 21:13

I saw that thread and was slightly agog glad its gone and glad she withdrew from a battering.

Darragon · Yesterday 21:24

I was shocked reading that thread as the OP’s attitude and ageism emerged more and more.

and if you tie me to a chair and hold me under water and I drown, it proves I’m not a witch.

your logic is impeccable.

I thought TAAT wasn’t allowed on mumsnet

Funny how people on this site moan about ageism towards the middle aged and elderly but then shit on Gen Z and think it’s fine because they’re young.

Look at which board OP has posted on.

Posters histories are "deleted" every time they name change so arguing about it from that stance isn't going to get you anywhere. However I do agree they seem to delete threads more eagerly than they used to.

I don’t care when this happens. This is just a chat forum. Getting angry and overly involved in threads is daft. I don’t like it when people are rude, racist or sexist so I do report people but I don’t care if people get threads removed.
