Can anyone explain what’s happening with the site at the moment? Constant crashing

No idea what’s happening or why

It’s been like this for a few days

Sorry @PancakesPat this is really annoying and not what we want the site to feel like.

We're aware of issues with crashing/freezing at the moment, but it’s not happening consistently for everyone, and so we’re trying to pin down exactly what’s triggering it. From other threads, it seems to be more likely when people are on longer threads or have been browsing for a while, but that’s not the full picture yet.

If you don’t mind, a few details would really help us join the dots:

• what you’re doing when it crashes (scrolling, opening a thread, posting, etc.)
• how often it’s happening and when did it start happening
• WiFi or mobile data

I’m not the OP but having the same issue.

I used browsers on a MBP, not the app on a phone and its always on wifi/ethernet not 4/5g.
Changing browser doesn’t get rid of it, nor does clearing cache, but my perception is that its worse on long threads. However I’ve also searched for specific posts and found the links are broken but then ten minutes later. Ditto the hotlinks at the top of threads for “I’m on” and “Active”.

It also seems to vary by day - it was so bad mid week I abandoned the site, other days it hardly happens. I don’t think its being caused by anything in the local environment.

I am on my home Wi-Fi, on my iPhone. I have got no Wi-Fi issues at all. My Wi-Fi works perfectly with everything else.

For 4 days I have been unable to access the last hour. It says oops sorry we will have to look down the back of the sofa. Which is a very annoying message

I’ve tried to access MN by using DuckDuckGo search engine instead. That seems to work.

Plus all the adverts are foreign
