The terrible coloured moving adverts...

Sorry to keep complaining, but these days my screen when I'm using Mumsnet is approx 2 thirds brightly coloured moving images. They distract from the text I'm trying to read and after a while, make me feel quite ill.
A previous Site Stuff thread said that advice was taken about accessibility during another recent change, but I think this development has slipped through that net. Anyone with a visual impairment or migraines (eg, me!) could really suffer.

Thanks for getting in touch. Since receiving lots of feedback about the new colours we've darkened them a bit and you can also choose 'classic' colours in your settings which might help. But it sounds like you might be talking about ads here which is probably a different kettle of fish. Is there any chance you might be able to get a screenshot of the sort of thing that's causing problems for you just so we definitely know we're looking at the same thing and we can check if there's anything we can do? As an example, premium membership means you won't see many of the ads, of course, but we'd want to make sure those are ads that would vanish with Premium before we suggested that. Thank you very much!

Hi there @Puzzledtoday . Looks like you're having trouble posting the screenshots. Could you maybe just tell us which company the ad is for if you see it again? Or if you're able to click on the ad and grab the url for us that would be even better.

What fresh hell is this? A huge pop-up ad that covers most of the screen and cannot be closed. And the moving ads, ads that change colour when you move the mouse, flashing nonsense everywhere - it makes the penny arcade on the pier look calm and ordered in comparison.

@Squeeky112 are you able to post (or send in) a screenshot of what you're seeing please so we can check it out.

Morning, everyone. We've had a look at the screenshots kindly posted by @Puzzledtoday . They look like they are behaving 'normally', ie the ads are meant to appear where they are and there are some elements that 'move'. We're not sure there's much we can do about the brightness issue on ads but we will look into that.

We don't think any of these ads should be flashing or strobing though. If anyone sees that, we'd really appreciate it if you could get a screen recording of it (or even just record it using a different device held in front of the screen if that's easier) and send it in to [email protected] with this thread's title in the subject line. If you alert us here that you've sent it we'll go and find the email asap.
