Is it true we are thought of as nutters by the owner of this site?

It's come to my attention tonight that the owner of this site has called users of this site nutters. Is this true?

Particularly in relation to the royal family board.

It's really bad form to invite opinions and build a business then rip the people for it to say the least

But people will read posts & form judgements

basinbasin · 11/09/2025 03:55

And also if you go on many Royal threads & express an opinion that H & M are not the worst people in the world you tend to get accused of being a derailer, Sussex squad, etc because so many posters just want to vent about them. It is weird! 😆

Costcogroupie · 11/09/2025 06:14

Who cares what she thinks. Is she having a Ratner moment?

WhoaaaBodyform · 11/09/2025 08:57

I've not heard her calling users nutters, but there was some angry rant that she made earlier this year and she called everybody who didn't sign up for Mumsnet premium "freeloaders". IIRC it was the same week that a load of horrific explicit images of CSA were posted all over the site, and users were up in arms about the fact that overnight (UK time), there's no MN staff available, and they outsource the moderation of the forums to unpaid volunteers.

It was a bit uncomfortable and I know a lot of users left for a while.

Perhaps she's trying to get rid of us bit by bit? I wonder who will be next. It's a bit like watching Trump dismantle the US.

WhoaaaBodyform · 11/09/2025 08:58

(I post this as a "freeloader", by the way - although the amount of money they're making off all the bloody adverts plastered all over my screen I suspect far outweighs anything they'd make from me if I signed up to MN Premium, whatever that actually is)

I don't have a link. Another mumsneter said tonight that it's all over Google and the media how the owner of this site said that users of mumsnet were nutters. Seemingly in relation to the royal family board. So what's her thought on other boards?

People's opinions who have made her millions are Seemingly nutters..

Have you seen some of the posts here lol I love the site but let’s be honest… there are some nutters 😂😁

I remember that grim time @WhoaaaBodyform from another "Freeloader"

I think 🦇 💩 would’ve been a better description.

WitchesofPainswick · 11/09/2025 10:51

I've been posting here for twenty years and agree that most of us are nutters and potentially unhinged. It all adds to the SPICE.

Xiaoxiong · 11/09/2025 10:55

I've been here since 2010 and there are some posters and some boards that have more nutters than others. But overall, I think the proportion of nutters to normal people is actually far better on MN than other parts of the internet. There are certain subjects that people here get deranged about in particular compared to elsewhere, but every board or site has its hobbyhorses (see RoF on BigLaw, Pistonheads on exhaust fakery, etc)

Justwrong68 · 11/09/2025 10:58

It’s great to have a place for nutters go to

ErrolTheDragon · 11/09/2025 11:25

whats wrong with her accepting that there are some posters who are a hinge or two short of a functional door? Confused

columnatedruinsdomino · 11/09/2025 11:25

I think she was being kind. Nutters is a mild term for the Harry and Meghan haters on those threads.

Oh that is a fantastic expression 😁 😁

"deranged over H&M" could be either side but I've only seen the pro H&M side assuming that she only meant the other side.

the operative words being "for a while"

OP use of this site is a choice, nobody is holding a gun to your head.

there have been numerous controversies over MN over the years, not least of all Freeloader-Gate and now this. Do you always take what someone says in a general sense as an affront to you personally?

blacksax · 14/09/2025 14:43

Well she's not wrong about some of the posters on threads that mention H&M, that's for sure. Utterly batshit, they are.
