Mumsnet won't accept my username

I just can't post anything now, on existing threads

I'm trying to reply on threads I've been on before apparently I can't change my username. Well I never have.

You can change your username, but you can only have one username per thread. So if you post on a thread where you used an old username, you can't use your new username. Is that what you're referring to?

This has happened to quite a few people @justasking111 I have seen threads on here about it (Site Stuff.)

I have had it happen to me several times, but it corrects itself when I restart my computer. Don't know why this is happening. It asks you to enter a username (when you are trying to post more posts on a thread after already posting one right?)

... So you post one post on a thread as your username @justasking111 , and even though that is the default name for that thread now, it keeps asking for another name? If this is what you mean, as I say, this has happened to a few people. Any idea what's going on @MNHQ ??

I just tried to post on another thread and it threw up an error message saying I had to confirm my user name- which was the one displayed.
I did manage to post in the end though.
It’s just done it again on this post.

Yep, same here. It will allow you to post once, then when you try and post again in the same thread it's throws up the ' enter username ' box, but you can't type anything in this box. Interestingly, it allowed me to post twice though on the other thread about these problems...

Ok, I can’t post using desktop version using google or Safari IoS 18.5 on an IPad but I can post from my iPhone.

mine is the same. I can only post once on each thread because i keep getting an error message up saying I can't change my username even though Im not trying to.

Same as @tonybennscat plus occasional duplicate posts.

I give up. Have rebooted, cleared my cookies. It's now freezing as well.

Happened to me just now too. It was insisting I had to post using the username I'd already posted under on that particular thread. Well I was using the same name, it was right there, auto-filled in the damn box.

This has been happening to me too. Nine times out of ten it resolves when I clear history (last 15 minutes/ hour) in my browser. Copy the text of your post to paste back in, because this clears it.

Maybe try reporting your first post here to MN, to see if you can make them notice it. I don't think anyone has seen it.

Just click report post, and say 'hey MN have you seen this?'

Apologies for this. Can we ask if it's resolved now? We released a fix, but please do let us know if you're still experiencing issues here.

I had the same problem earlier. I've just gone back to the thread and my (second) post has now gone through.

I have had this on the app by accidently pressing the > that’s immediately about the ‘send’ button when I reply to threads

Not sure about the OP @justasking111 Looks like she's popped off for a bit. Hopefully she has not had any more issues.
