Mumsnet constantly freezing

Is anyone else having this issue? It's been happening to me for days, and today the site is almost unusable. It's taken three goes for me to get as far as opening it, going to Talk, and getting to Site stuff to write this.

It's not happening with any other sites or forums. Just this.

Using Chrome on my Samsung S24.

I’ve found a way of getting in. I open my emails and search for mumsnet. I find an email where someone has commented on my post and I can get in that way.

It's not just mumsnet that is freezing on me it’s everything else that I want to view on internet browser. However, it is always mumsnet that triggers it.

Same here. I’ve had to give up on reading the site through iOS as it’s just unusable. Having to use app now which I’m not keen on.

Yes, I was finding that MN messed up everything else on Safari too.

If you’re having trouble on safari even on other sites (I was till I switched to chrome just for mn) then close the mn window in safari, hard quit the app by swiping it out of the top of the screen, then restart safari (with no mn windows open obvs) and the other sites should then work fine. That’s how it is for me anyway. As long as a mn window is open in safari, no other websites will work. Hth.

Same here. Works on chrome but not safari. Cant get logged in on chrome. So annoying.

I am having difficulties as well, constant freezing and crashing the past 2 weeks. So if it doesn’t get fixed asap I’m leaving Mumsnet. So annoying every time I go on it literally takes minutes and various attempts to get onto a thread after I click the link. Not the user experience I’m after.

It’s 2025 and this is a major forum that makes lots of profit - get it together MN.

And like a pp said ,MN freezing seems to then be a trigger for other websites loading extremely slowly on my browser.

Pages freeze, half load, crash phone.

Only Mumsnet.

Have cleared cache, cleared history - been like it for a week, but today is nearly unusable.

Today it froze straight away every time I tried, making MN completely inaccessible. I've now downloaded Firefox, as it was the only way to get in. Chrome and Mumsnet seem entirely incompatible now.

FWIW chrome and mn work just fine for me; it’s all I use chrome for and it’s been fine. Safari is a no no at the moment but just in my case.

But I do think that the software mn is using for its server seems to be particularly funny with certain browser/cookie combinations. It’s not very robust.

All the other sites I visit do not display this flakiness, they just work so I think the problem lies in the technology that mn are using to power its forum.

Me too, ipad and iPhone. To be fair, this also happens with the local newspaper’s clickbaity website.

So glad that this ain’t just me experiencing it! So annoying, any idea when it will be fixed? Having to use the app now and much prefer the web page

Same here, freezes on Safari on my iPad, it is driving me mad so hardly use it now.

I’m so glad I found this as thought it was my phone. Ive been giving up as its so hard to get on a thread.

Maybe this will be the thing that finally ends my Mumsnet addiction. It's ridiculous. Having to swap browsers every time I want to access it, is a pain.

It doesn’t look like MN can fix this bug as it has been going on for some time now.

Still slow to load, freezing and reloading pages
at least the adverts are just blank squares

@HebeMumsnet all works here for me again on safari now, so I can ditch the chrome.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I thought there was a problem with my phone. I can only use Mumsnet on the app now.

Very glitchy here, on a Samsung using the app. I had to leave a stupid autocorrect on a post as I couldn't use the edit function.

Is anyone else still having this issue using their iPhone please? Still basically not usable?

I’m having the same issues as @MolluscMonday with my phone overheating (iPhone, using safari) - and the site has been super slow to load for me too.

I’ve given up accessing the site on my laptop (edge) because my browser was crashing every time and locking up my computer.
