Endless one post OP threads

Hi MNHQ. There’s a rash of one post OPs at the moment. Normally goady, made to wind up, not enough detail and then the OP never returns. Hundreds of posts, no OP in sight. AI, goady trolls, idiots? Who know, probably a combination. But it’s getting silly. Could we add to the guidelines and make it a reportable thing?

I don’t mean someone who is a regular who forgets, or is just slow. I mean like the current one with 600+ replies about trans ‘hate’. Or the vegan at an BBQ. Obviously a wind-up but people bite.

Someone suggested it was a little club somewhere (probably some twatty boys’ club) that had a contest going for who could do it the most. Can we please knock it on the head?

Presumably though MNHQ would give op X amount of time to respond as a matter of course. And when time was up it would be too late. Damage done.

I wonder if more tattle users are on this site now, since the defamation thing. It’s definitely changed in the last year.

And the newbs are more likely to be opted in to getting round-up emails advertising pre Isley the sort of threads that MNHQ think will drive traffic … same with Facebook …

I know it’s a business but I think it needs a rethink and a reset.

Another trick is when I post, “OP not been back?” Or similar, OP posts “OMG I went out, is that illegal?” But doesn’t answer a single question or post again. It’s weird and annoying.

Tattlers chat on and on in endless threads. One and run is not a tattle thing. I doubt they bother coming here, they think it's dull.

😂 No. They're just people who chat online endlessly, largely attempting to hold influencers and celebs to account. The Meghan threads I saw are vile, and at that time were certainly not adequately moderated. But in general there is lots of incisive, amusing chat. You can read without joining. You won't catch anything.

So many of them are obviously just clickbait, like the vegan barbecue one, I just check how many posts there are from the op before I even read it.

You can click on the little thing in the top right corner and it tells you how many posts the OP has made

I think may only be under premium (or I may be looking at the wrong bit).

I think it’s different on the app versus desktop.

@Enough4me the app doesn't seem great, but there's no real point in it, since the normal website works.

If the OP doesn’t have ‘see next’ in its bottom right corner, they’ve only posted once.

I know this, but I'd rather know before I even open the thread if the op has replied or not.

I agree, and it's making me engage less because so many threads are obviously bollocks. There's a certain way of posting which is so common now, and is very obviously AI.

It's unfair. People are answering in good faith without realising they're being goaded into it.
