To me when logged out I can’t see any likes or thanks. When logged in I can see them on my responses. Will I be able to see them on others responses or is it private?

OP posts:

You can only see them on your own posts.

purpleme12 · 15/05/2025 21:23

It's so stupid that they made it so no one else can see

Treeleaf11 · 15/05/2025 21:25

No. Only on my posts

BeEagerEagle · 15/05/2025 21:25

Thanks guys. I agree would be good if others could see similar to other social media.

I prefer that you can't. If they were visible people would (might) feel obliged to add their own reaction. As it is they are far more genuine reactions. IMHO.

ScottBakula · 15/05/2025 21:29

As pp said only you can see them , and I prefer it that way otherwise it would get like FB with people competing for 'likes' .
I can see who likes / finds funny ect and that's good enough for me.

I also think you would get posters who want to stir things saying "why did you like @xyz post it's crap"

purpleme12 · 15/05/2025 21:31

Oh I can't say that crossed my mind that making them visible would make people think like that!

Ddakji · 15/05/2025 21:32

I switched off the notifications for reactions as they got quite annoying so now it may as well not be a feature as I don’t know who’s liked which of my posts and I can’t see anyone else’s.

It’s all a bit pointless because if you’ve got 20 people on a thread telling you you’re wrong but you can see 40 people have agreed with your post, are you meant to post a screenshot or something to prove that you’re not wrong??

I like the poll best - anon and people vote even if they don’t comment so it really does tell you what people think.

Agree with this. No desire for this forum to be like Facebook, thanks.

ScottBakula · 15/05/2025 21:37

@Ddakji even with the notifications turned off I thought you could still see the reactions when you go to your post ?

I have just 'agreed' to your post , can you see it ?

Well, yes, if I go back to the post I can see that but I don’t often - I keep forgetting that it can be liked or whatever!

JoMumsnet · 16/05/2025 12:16

Hi @BeEagerEagle just confirming what others have said - Mumsnetters can only see the reactions to their own posts, not anyone else's.
