Has mumsnet changed the layout of Active and Trending? (Not been to other corners) Mumsnet is all different for me now.

Yes me too! Finding it hard to navigate.

Summersunshinebliss · 14/05/2025 21:33

It's completely flung me off my scrolling system @Chick981 Grin

Maybe you have an issue with your sight.

Blueberry911 · 14/05/2025 21:50

The layout is grim, why is everything massive instead of just a list of threads now. The homepage is horrible, no one asked for this???

Chick981 · 14/05/2025 22:08

I know, I don’t want to read the full OP! Just the titles. Hoping it’s a glitch

LittleGreenDragons · 14/05/2025 22:24

If I'm understanding the problem correctly, you can change this in your settings. I did it last year because they changed the Garden board to showing more than the usual title.

EDIT
Settings - Talk Settings - Topic Pages, click compact view (not op view) - save

Chick981 · 14/05/2025 22:27

This is what the MN homepage has been showing as for me for a few hours

I can't find my saved threads or I am on threads. Everything is so big and confusing 😕

Changing to compact view doesn't change the homepage. It's awful.

BellaMumsnet · 15/05/2025 09:39

Hi all, thanks for your feedback. We are testing a new version of the homepage that allows you to click between Trending, Shopping, Active, and personalised feeds so that you can find more threads in one place. It's useful to know that some of you like a compact view, it's something we will consider, but we can't change immediately.

Threads 'I'm On' is still accessible via the bottom blue navigation bar on mobile, and if you click the person icon in the top right hand corner of the website, you can get to it via 'My Lists'.

@Chick981 that said, it does look like your page isn't formatting as expected, please could you let us know the device and browser that you are using so that we can take a look at what's wrong.

We are taking all of the feedback on board, so if there is anything else, please let us know.

Blueberry911 · 15/05/2025 11:07

Bella, I have no navigation bar at the bottom of the homepage anymore. I just have an endless scroll, Android Internet. It looks horrible and I have to go into my notifications, to get into a thread, to access a normal looking thread with a navigation bar at the bottom. Clearly something is wrong?

Summersunshinebliss · 15/05/2025 11:11

Morning Bella

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately I don't have a navigation bar it's completely gone. Using Samsung through Google.

@Blueberry911 @Summersunshinebliss you should be able to see the bottom navigation bar on mobile again now, please let us know if this not the case. Thanks!

Chick981 · 15/05/2025 14:57

It’s an iPhone 12 and safari and it’s still like that now

It's back, thank you!! Please could someone look into compact View on the homepage though, it looks really ugly :(

Smile02 · 15/05/2025 18:10

I hate it!!

i’ve hardly logged on today because of the chanca :(

Interl0per · 15/05/2025 19:56

I'm not keen on the new layout, as it's far less efficient to see so few topics on screen.

However, my big concern with threads no longer being compact is that some threads are about sensitive issues that are triggering for people. It's easy enough not to open a thread with a concerning title, but now the opening sentences are in your face regardless of whether you want to read them or not.
For example, today I have the "my darling husband" threads, and can immediately read "has had a stroke." If I was grieving, this may be very unhelpful to me.

Summersunshinebliss · 15/05/2025 22:19

@Interl0per totally agree with your point. Today for me it was the post about the dogs, so upsetting 😪

HaddawayAndShite · 15/05/2025 23:04

I dislike this new layout too. It's clunky and hard to navigate. I've spent considerably less time on MN since the change. MNHQ never seem to work with their user base when it comes to site changes. These features and random changes are implemented at the drop of a hat, and 90% of the time they're not wanted or needed by the users. It's baffling, especially when the site is so poorly coded in the first place, why they do this.

BellaMumsnet · 16/05/2025 17:02

@Chick981 thanks for this screenshot, we are looking into this and trying to recreate the issue. It would be really helpful if you could please let us know:

  • If every post preview displays like this for you on the homepage or is it only some?
  • Which iOS version are you are currently using?
  • Could you try clearing your cache?
Thank you.
Fallulah · 16/05/2025 17:09

Can we get rid of these offensively large buttons?! I never vote on AIBU and the massive buttons aren’t going to make me start! It also means there’s less threads on a page.

Morning mumsnet

Thanks for changing the home page back to normal 👏

Oh good, the homepage is unusable again.
