So many adverts!

Tulipsontoast · 14/05/2025 16:04

Scrolling through a thread and it’s really hard to read as every few posts there’s 3-4 adverts. Obviously I keep scrolling past them but then there’s more and more.

Is it just me? Is it a sign up to premium to stop this from being annoying thing?

Not just you. I'm seeing loads. Yes, there is a paid version, which is why the ads are increasing.

I've just screenshoted 4 ads in a row on a thread with 8 posts! One of the ads was very tall/long to scroll and another was shown twice. Was going to send Mumsnet a picture and the URLs.

shellyleppard · 14/05/2025 17:18

Yep having the same problem....its only started today 🤔

flowerfairyy · 14/05/2025 17:18

yeah, it’s bloody annoying

Madcats · 14/05/2025 17:19

I must be on dull threads as I don’t seem to get too many. I seem to get a lot of property ones, which is a great time-waster.

MsDDxx · 14/05/2025 17:32

Same here. It’s weird, the same advert three times in a row, with nothing in between.

shellyleppard · 14/05/2025 17:33

Just reading the comments on this post and it was followed by five bloody adverts!!!! 3 of the same for yours clothing!!

MsDDxx · 14/05/2025 17:34

Just a sample of what’s on ONE page.

Only started today for me as well.

Yes, makes it a horrid experience. Three of those you've screen shot are ads I have immediately preceeding your post!
I get they need to have a revenue stream but the ads and pushing of affiliate products has gone crazy lately. I only use the forum part, I don't read any of their articles so I won't pay as the content for Talk is created by us, the users.

Rosa · 14/05/2025 18:02

Glad its not just got me - they have got bigger and worse - Thing is that I refuse ever to click on or go and look so its a waste of space as far as I am concerned - and will never go Premium and pay - Sorry !

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 14/05/2025 18:12

Yes, ridiculous numbers of ads, as of an hour ago for me. Surely a glitch? I wouldn't continue using Mumsnet if this was to be a permanent change!

WillTheSHTFsoon · 14/05/2025 18:14

Same on mine, 5 in a row. Wasn't like it this morning

vodkaredbullgirl · 14/05/2025 18:15

4 on here 😡

MN make it stop

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 14/05/2025 18:32

Ah, glad it's not just me! I wonder if I can claim compo for getting RSI my scrolling finger? It's absolutely nuts today.

And they wonder why people use ad blockers.

Iridescentdragon · 14/05/2025 18:40

I agree, it's excessive. I hope it's something that can be tweaked

Flowby · 14/05/2025 18:41

Same!

Kangarude · 14/05/2025 18:42

And me Angry

JoMumsnet · 14/05/2025 19:24

Hi all, thanks for flagging this. We're aware of this issue and we're on the case. Will be back with an update just as soon as we can.

Thanks for bearing with us!

AliceInSwitzerland · 14/05/2025 19:25

I used this site for many years with an ad blocker and had no problems. Now I can’t access the site unless I disable it. It’s a shame as it’s hard to read some threads now with all the ads.

HelloMist · 14/05/2025 22:09

Glad to know MN are on the case and it's not just me. I don't want to pay but ads overtaking regular posts makes it an unpleasant experience.

Has anyone else had an ad (was on mobile) where you can't even scroll? I had to put my finger in the narrow white space to the sides to manage it. Has happened once yesterday and once today.

I also really don't like the "promoted" thread titles, don't remember these looking just like regular threads until recently.

Hi all - this should be fixed now. Thanks a lot for your patience and sorry for the disruption.

Tulipsontoast · 15/05/2025 12:41

Much better today, thank you.

I’m hardly on here anymore because of this, it takes way too long to load anything, phone is so hot from constant adverts downloading. It’s not worth the hassle now.

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 26/05/2025 07:39

Use the browser app called DuckDuckGo. You have to accept the cookies but then it's ad free. Just like the old days on here.
