Doing an advanced search and using the back button

When accessing threads that have been listed as the result of an Advanced search, if you use the back button on the browser to go back to the other threads that were listed, it takes you back to the blank advanced search screen rather than the search results. This means you have to keep entering your search criteria every time after selecting one thread to read. It never used to do this. It would retain your search results and you could navigate between threads within your search. This function is now useless as you can only click on one thread before having to enter your search criteria all over again.

Yes, I was going to start a thread about this yesterday. I use Advanced Search all the time so it's going to be a big problem for me if it stays like this.

I also found this on Safari, I often do an advance search for threads on old TV series and it's very annoying and been happening in the last week or so

Agree, it used to work, and go back, now it takes you back to the original search screen.

Just confirming that this is still broken for me @KellyMumsnet. I'm using a Chromebook.

I noticed this as well. Android, Chrome, mobile site. It's really annoying.

Has this not been resolved yet? I use Advanced Search a lot, and now it’s almost unusable.

I don't know why but I just think advanced search has changed anyway

I advance search the key words and put 'thread title only'

And often it'll still come back including threads which have the key words in the posts not the thread title. I swear it just used to do it like it should do, in the title

I’ve just come over to site stuff to make a post on this. It’s so irritating.

While it's getting fixed - can you please fix it so you can input your search term then hit enter - as was requested AGES ago when you changed that too

Yes this is absolutely bloody infuriating, it's changed in the last week or so! Please change it back 🤞

What about this?

Whilst on the subject of the back button, mine no longer takes me back to where I was the active list the vast majority of the time. It takes me back to the active list, but the top of it, not the section of the page t I'd scrolled down to previously. Anyone else?

It's a Samsung s23 and yes, in the browser. I think it's just the Samsung Internet one.

Hi @kittensinthekitchen thanks for raising this. On the normal search, you can hit enter to submit your query. For the advanced search, you can tab through the options and hit enter after selecting 'Search all topics.' That said, we can discuss this with the tech team to see if there’s a possibility of adjusting how it works.
