I noticed you are a member of this coalition, are you going to do a campaign or have a thread so mumsnetters can if they wish email MP and support this coalition? I would start one myself but I don't think I would get the traffic or know where to put it!!!

Hi @@allcatnofiller

Thanks for raising this. As you’ve highlighted, Mumsnet is part of the Creative Rights in AI Coalition, which is a group of organisations concerned about the threat that unlicensed use of copyrighted content by AI firms poses to creatives and publishers. The government is currently consulting on an exemption to copyright for AI developers, and we’re urging them not to implement this. Proper attribution and compensation isn’t just an issue of fairness - it's the only approach that will allow both sectors to thrive.

As you might have seen, we’re currently taking legal action against OpenAI, as they’ve been scraping our data without permission in order to train their AI models. You can read more about that in Justine’s post here.

There’s more info about the coalition here. We’d be very grateful if you were to write to your MP about this - there’s a link here with a template letter that you can use.

Thanks,
MNHQ
