I’m really not at all technically minded and am also an older woman. Anyway as the title says I’m having this issue for ages. I know my search engine is safari. I know other people have had this issue but I cannot understand how they fixed it.

I started a new thread as I was advised the old one could be missed as it a few years old
any advice greatly appreciated

Hi there @Nools24.

This is a bit of an ongoing problem, which we are still trying to fix, however, there are a few workarounds to try.

  1. Firstly, could you clear your cache and cookies? There are some good, clear instructions on how to do that here: https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/tech/how-to-clear-cache-on-safari-browser
  2. Could you also try changing your 'posts per page' to 50 or 25? On longer threads, if you have them set to 1000 per page it can affect loading time. You can change that in your settings page: https://www.mumsnet.com/settings/talk
  3. Lastly, could you just check you don't have an ad blocker installed. These stop the site working as it should.

Hopefully one of those at least will do the trick but do let us know if you're still having problems after that.

Thank you. Ive managed (I think) to do number one and number two. I doubt I have an ad blocker but have no clue how to find out if I have one
I hope this works as I think it’s a fantastic site with great people contributing and I miss it when it won’t download

Hi @Nools24. Thanks for trying that. Hopefully it will work but if not please do drop us another line. It seems unlikely you'd have downloaded an ad blocker without knowing so probably don't worry too much about that. If you're seeing ads on Mumsnet that's a clear sign that you don't have an ad blocker (unless you're a Premium member as they don't see ads).

That didn’t work. It’s taken me waiting all day for me to be able to type this as mumsnet wouldn’t download. It might take days before I can see a response too. Every day I try but lately have no success mot days

I’ve had the same problem on iPad with the Safari app and finally switched over to Chrome this morning. No problems there.

Nools24 · 08/01/2025 17:57

How do you do that

I get the same problem in Chrome as well.

BrieHugger · 08/01/2025 17:59

Same problem on my iPhone, tried switching to 5G and back to internet but only have any joy if I switch my phone off and back on again.

Aintwealljustrunaways · 08/01/2025 18:21

I had exactly this problem on my iPad. Had to keep restarting and it would just freeze and became unusable. I downloaded Adblocker from the App Store. After a short while everything was running smoothly. Haven't had a problem since.

Nools24 · 10/01/2025 15:10

I give up. Bye bye everyone
