Obnoxious pop up ads covering most of page

In the last few days I am getting absolutely obnoxious ads occasionally blocking the page I am trying to read. Can this stop? I haven't seen ads this shit for decades on halfway legitimate sites.

Can we ask what device and browser you're using, and if you click 'X' can you estimate (roughly) how often you're seeing these?

Android phone (OnePlus), Chrome, and I don't click X - I close the window.

Do you close the window by clicking the 'X' in the top right hand of the popup? Or do you mean that you close the whole tab?

I'm not clicking on an ad that is blocking my screen!

It's not an advert - it's a Mumsnet email popup - you can click the X on it and it should disappear, and then won't be repeated too much.

It is an advert because it is pushing a product at me, and it is obnoxious and irritating.
