Why is there a fictional blog? Isn't this just advertising for Lucy Cavendish?

Apologies if this has been asked before.

Justine's questions about Mumsnet Local got me exploring the site a bit more, including the blogs, which I've never really read before.

I've just read Lucy's Samantha Smythe book and enjoyed it, but I was puzzled to see a blog purporting to be from her.

Is this not just advertising by any other name?

Have I missed something here?

Well yes that's one way of looking at it but it's also free to access material from a writer that normally charges -ie you don't have to buy a book to read it iyswim...

True - and I did enjoy her book.

I haven't read much of her blog yet, 'cos I was a bit puzzled!

Just hope that MN benefits from it in some way?
