Please may we have a board for people with ancestral homes on 100+ acres

We need a safe space to talk about estate management and issues like current hedge-shape trends and navigating planning permission for a new wing when English Heritage are interfering. The lower classes just don't understand and can make very hurtful comments.

In all seriousness, 100 acres would give you an income below minimum wage unless that land was in a famous wine producing region. You need thousands of acres in the right parts of the country to be rich.

Which is why farms and estates near me are doing weddings, music festivals, camping... Nudist camping just up the road, too.

Could we have a safe space for people who have more than 17 captive walruses as part of their business or family home? I am struggling to connect to people who understand the challenges relating to tusk care and walrus hygiene at this scale. People who have a single pet walrus can sometimes hijack the threads without the level of empathy I’d hope for.

I was saying just this only the other day! Jinx!

fagsandwine · 08/10/2024 21:40

I really need a safe space to talk about the challenges of building a swimming pond. It's so hard being judged.

I know someone whose family, a good few centuries back, owned the Ukraine. And Siberia.

You're in. But the trolls making fun of my 100 acres and single hedge are banned.

Get your facts straight. There's no reason why English Heritage would interfere. You mean Historic England.

I also think we need a separate board for the younger siblings who aren't going to inherit the family estate and try really hard not to get their hopes up each time their older sibling gets the sniffles

They can join the religious board as clergy...

I know a lady who is descended from royalty. On both sides. Actually, she is related to 6 european royal houses just in the last 150 years. Surely, if anyone gets glory off friends, it is me.

Should we ask for our own board?

"Friends of royalty and the royalty adjacent. Only"

2ndMrsdeWinter · 08/10/2024 22:06

MY walri have their own water maze in their pool. Have had to be very assertive with my estates manager today, as the head landscaper keeps trimming the hedges too low and I can see said walri mating from the west wing drawing room. Most distasteful.

crockofshite · 08/10/2024 22:07

This is all very triggering for me. Mumsnetters are so thoughtless and toxic.

I feel it would be appropriate.

I would like a board for those who don't use mumsnet, and never will because it's full of cliques and nastiness! 😭 it's so distressing when you don't get constant adulation and acquiescence.

There is one knocking around somewhere, but nobody's used it for years and MNHQ have probably lost it down the back of the chaise longue by now.

Sorry, no, that was me and DH, we got and bit lost on our way home from the nudist camp. Easy mistake to make

Oh surely the Louis Quinze fauteuil that someone's ancestor borrowed from Versailles during a drunken party, surely?

This is MN, after all.

Or maybe it's in the ice house.

Does it have a jacuzzi, a Mercedes and room for a pony?

Oh darling I don't grown anything! It's all landscaped.

Lancelot "Capability" Brown was an English gardener and landscape architect,
landscaped in his style or another style ?
