Was reading a thread about the horrific death of a young transman following surgical complications. It is a hugely important story but has been removed. Can you explain why? If it is concerns about accuracy fair enough, but when young women die because they have been butchered attempting to create a body they may (or may not) be more comfortable with, this,we should be shouting about.

I don't see it as kind or respectful to use the language that contributed to this poor person eventually dying. I actually see it as grossly manipulative and unethical.

Akin to affirming an anorexic as fat.

Deleting a thread that's disrespectful about a dead person is a perfectly reasonable thing to do IMO (even if that wasn't the reason for deletion). It is possible to discuss his death without referring to him in a way that would have upset him had he read it.

Tbh, if facts upset someone, its a shame god them, but it's tough. We must not be scared of upsetting people to the point where we go along with things that cause so much harm.

Yes, exactly.

It is possible to discuss the tragedy of the young man's death without disrespecting his wishes.

This young person died as a direct result of being told they could become the opposite sex if they took drugs and had extensive plastic surgery. Their parents were most likely told ‘would you rather have a dead daughter or a live trans son”.
It’s an impossible situation to be put in. If she hadn’t been sold a lie, she would still be alive.

No I saw it. And "Thanks"ed it. Smile

I haven’t read the other thread. But transmen are women. Only women can be transmen.
And clearly being told a lie that you can actually change your sex is very harmful.
For men it is harmful because the operations in effect neuter them.
For women it seems the harmful effects are even bigger in that the cross sex hormones starts very early menopauses and shorten their expected lifetime significantly in addition to causing serious health problems along the way.

So to correctly sex someone is important when talking about issues like this, for clarity and to avoid misunderstandings.

You all care so much about this deceased person that you're going to the NZfruit site to discuss them/look at surgery images? Disgusting.

'You all'?

This poster seems quite invested.

FWR seems quite invested.

ArabellaScott · 20/08/2024 13:16

FWR invested in a woman being manipulated, gaslit, the victim of repeated medical and ethical failures based on sexist ideology, that eventually led to her death?

You find that surprising?
