So many first replies being deleted

I've noticed recently that on many posts the first reply is deleted. Now of course this may happen sometimes due to trolls but it is happening so frequently now.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Hi OP,

Users who join to use the site in a disingenuous way will often name change a few times... A chunk of these posts were likely made by one user who was posting under multiple names (and sticking to unanswered threads). We remove all of these posts and so that's why it looks a bit messy.
