A board just for those whinging about VAT on private schools

@MNHQ please can you move all these really repetitive threads to a different board? I'm sick of seeing them. If trans threads kept appearing on AIBU you would move them to the Feminism board. Same with conflict in the middle East and things about war, or the general election thread, or maybe the Royal family ones. I thi k we have just had the millionth thread in AIBU about this and it's so boring to keep hiding them.

Another vote for fucking these off elsewhere. Or just banning the ridiculous topic.

What next will you "ban" - threads about going to work? You get my point!!
Leave it to MNHQ!!

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator

i’ve got bored now, but here’s a load for starters. And that only includes one with VAT in the title so I’m sure there are many more.

Will this VAT on private school fees be limited, or could it go on other stuff too? Thinking about tuition and swimming lessons.

That is just the ones with VAT in the title though. Lots don't.

Obviously they've got a right to have a whinge but they are bloody everywhere and all the same.

The repetitive nature really makes them appear coordinated. And then there are ones pretending that they don't have kids in private schools and are just starting a thread to sympathise.

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 14/06/2024 17:16

It's sooooooo annoying. I used to have some sympathy. I now have none.

They do have a "right" as long as the site owners agree
As for being "co-oordinate," sorry but thanks for the serious😂😂

I think you're wrong.
This site has been overrun with previously unknown posters who have a very right-wing agenda.

No offence, but how do you know the "sites been over-run,"???
It could be this, another GE has really got peoples backs up!!
However, you could be right!!!

If you feel there is something wrong, report or ignore IMHO

I agree and also the threads along the lines of "will there be VAT on universities/nurseries/other things"

Unless literally every private school parent is on here posting repeatedly, I feel like there's something else going on, I.e. cchq bots

ChockysChimichanga · 14/06/2024 18:04

Just move them to the education boards. I’m sick of seeing them in AiBU and chat.

OvaHere · 14/06/2024 18:27

It's an unpopular policy for some people so it will be talked about.

A quick google brought up about 13 threads on the Tory Rwanda policy - another unpopular policy with many.

On a forum like this people will talk about the politics of the day. Just hide the threads as they pop up if it spoils your Active tab.

emmetgirl · 14/06/2024 18:30

I'm sick of them too.

It’s really to do with the election IMO

I started one of the threads about VAT

MNHQ is quite welcome to look into my posts and realise that I couldn’t be further from being Tory HQ or whatever people seem to think.

i would say there are far more left wing posts on this website in general, than right wing posts.

i remember the 2019 election (I didn’t vote) and on here it looked as though everyone was voting labour. Then con won. It’s a left biased site and it’s pretty bizarre that a small flurry of posts angry about a labour policy have made people think that the posts are Tory hq/bot things.

this place is far more likely to have been infiltrated, or even run by, labour supporters - see massive labour banner at the top and sides of chat, which virtually had the MN logo on Starmer shirt !

EasterlyDirection · 14/06/2024 18:33

Just hide them 🤷‍♀️, that’s what I do with anything that is irritating me. I’m finding them interesting though.

TheaBrandt · 14/06/2024 18:37

The first say 5 threads were ok the arguments were thrashed out but now there is no more to say really. They sit better in education topic or general election.

More like the GE boards as it is to do with the GE forums!!

I totally agree with you and said it before, its a big, well, massive subject and the few threads I have checked and even contributed to have many posts.

The bottom line, MNHQ do a good job and a fair job form what I have seen!!

HoneyButterPopcorn · 15/06/2024 09:02

Don’t like it? Don’t look then. I just skip over the threads that don’t interest me or are likely to piss me off.

spriots · 15/06/2024 09:29

I don't think every post on this is a bot but the sheer volume and the tone of some of them feels a bit AI generated to me.
