Site problems today

Unfortunately we suffered a hardware failure today and hence the site was offline for a while this morning. It will be a bit slow whilst it gets itself straightened out but after that all should be well.

YOU suffered? Harrumph. Self, self, self, that's all people think about ....

hecate · 04/04/2008 12:25

It's not good enough you know. I am currently counselling AdamAnt and there are many more people hiding under tables, curled up in the foetal position.
In fact, what do I see? Over there?.....is that?...yes, I think it is...It's the red cross and the salvation army.....

2shoes · 04/04/2008 12:25

thank you for fixing it

flatmouse · 04/04/2008 12:25

You mean you don't have full hardware redundancy - warm spares etc ??? this is a critical website remember

hecate · 04/04/2008 12:26

do you think yetmoretech has been here long enough yet for us to make jokes about his hardware failure?

Libra1975 · 04/04/2008 12:31

where can I claim back all the money I spent internet shopping this morning instead of surfing on here

Glad you are back, stuff happens with hardware, it gets old like the rest of us!

foxythesnowman · 04/04/2008 12:33

Did you Tech? I really hadn't noticed...

MrsBadger · 04/04/2008 12:34

'hardware failure'

who spilt coffee in the server?

skyatnight · 04/04/2008 12:35

Thank you for fixing it but I agree with flatmouse. You need fault-tolerant hardware with added redundancy, belts and braces and additional rubber bands.

fryalot · 04/04/2008 12:37

Thank you for letting us know what the problem was.

now you need to tell us who broke it

DJCod · 04/04/2008 12:37

i resckon it was dh

noddyholder · 04/04/2008 12:45

Can you do this every friday please as my washing is all done and I have changed the beds too Thanks xx

NorthernLurker · 04/04/2008 12:47

I think it was everybody at mumsnet towers buying stuff for the new baby over that way. They bought it all back to the office, piled it up on the servers (surely that's what those large cabinet type things are for) blocked the air flow and bang - no mumsnet.

hecate · 04/04/2008 12:49

You've not fixed it properly you know. Keeps going to a blank page (just the logo at the top) and I have to click refresh to get the posts up.
Get back to it.

PenelopePitstops · 04/04/2008 12:50

hecate same here!

Bouncingturtle · 04/04/2008 12:56

Ditto.

But OTOH my house is now the cleanest it has been for ages. And ds is not as neglected as normally is. I think he has now realised that mummy's face isn't a big square silver thing (i.e. the back of the laptop screen)

StealthPolarBear · 04/04/2008 12:58

hecate I have that too but I don't think it has just started. I've also noticed it with other sites, wondering if it's a browser thing. Are you using IE7?

MetallicCerisePan · 04/04/2008 13:01

Hardware failure? There IS a pharmacuetical remedy available these days.
Or just pop into dadsnet for some advice....

Buda · 04/04/2008 13:04

PMSL MetallicCP!!!!

I hadn't noticed as was out having a RL this morning! Coffee with friends and then hairdressers thank you.

Although it's just as well as is entirely the wrong time of the month for something like that to happen to me. I may have had to do something drastic.

UnquietDad · 04/04/2008 13:08

I keep getting hecate's problem too

StealthPolarBear · 04/04/2008 13:09

Yes, it is happening more on MN, you're right.
I think it's down to the speed issues.

MetallicCerisePan · 04/04/2008 13:09

yes, it was the "getting itself straightened out" that gave the real clue away..
