Which name will show up on thanks notification?

I sometimes use a different name on threads to the one that's stored in the settings and which would be used automatically if I didn't overwrite it. Eg my name is set to smellypig (not really) but just for this thread I've overwritten it with Pixiedust1234.

I assume if I thank a poster without posting in that thread they will get a notification that smellypig thanked them.

But if I've posted with Pixiedust1234 and then thanked a poster for responding to a question in the same thread, which name will show up - smellypig or Pixiedust1234?

Hopefully you understand what I'm trying to ask 😂

I guess if you thank me on here, I can tell you if Pixiedust or another name comes up for me?
I guess it depends on how hidden you want your original name to be!

The username that appears will be the one that you're logged in with - regardless of whether you've posted on the thread!

Thank you. I guess I had better stop thanking people who answer my questions without changing in settings first, otherwise they will think I'm ignoring them and being rude!

In case anyone wonders, I generally try to use a different name for Relationships to the rest of the forum as I don't want anyone doing an AS.

That explains why I am often thanked by people apparently not on the thread - I was thinking they were lurkers.
