It would be incredibly useful on long threads if we could press a button that skips the pages of theories, side conversations etc and just jumps to the OPs last comment. It is incredibly useful to have OPs posts in a seperate colour, but some times I'm lazy and can't be arsed to scroll through pages to find their latest update. 😁
Thank you for considering helping out lazy sods like me in advance!

Nah apple ap is way better than website.

Apart from you can't quote quotes or take part in polls.

But easy and clear to use.

Those are two of the reasons I think it's rubbish and I do have an iphone.

I always thought apps were supposed to be an improvement on desktop, but if you can't quote or take part in polls then it isn't.

EarringsandLipstick · 21/05/2023 15:09

I always thought apps were supposed to be an improvement on desktop

Why would you think that?

They offer different functionality.

I don't care about the polls, and with quoting I hate the function that allows quotes of quotes on the web version, so don't miss that at all. You can quote on the app - but just one time, not a quote of a quote.

I use the desktop version on my mobile? I have Chrome and the default Internet browser on my phone, you don't need a desktop PC to view the desktop version.

And to reiterate the last line of my post

‘and the app flows much better than the mobile site’

murasaki · 21/05/2023 15:45

It doesn't flow better if you can't get it to do what you want. The desktop site is fine on a phone.

If you've got a phone of course you do Confused

A desktop is a computer 😵‍💫

Separately, I don’t have access to the MN emojis on the mobile site, only the app. Another annoyance

Not for me Grin

murasaki · 21/05/2023 17:01

Fair enough, I'm on android and it works for me, can't speak for ios.

OldTinHat · 21/05/2023 17:34

Yes, please, for the app! I only use the app, and it's honestly crap!

Are you sure you don't, does the M not show up when you click on the smiley face ?

A desktop is a computer, yes.

The desktop version which was what was being referred to is accessible on a mobile device, via your browser of choice.

No need for 😵‍💫 at all.

Yes I get those, but they’re not the same emojis as the Mumsnet ones, I’ve included a photo of the ones I mean

For the third time. I also referred to the mobile site (desktop version? Ok). And it is also inferior. So the PP jumping in to state the obvious with said emoji is why I used it back. Doesn’t require in depth analysis.

it’s also annoying on a thread where app users are asking for improvements on the app for people to come in with ‘well why don’t you just use the mobile site’.

Mumsnet has an app and app users are perfectly entitled to make suggestions on how to improved it.

Maybe it's your device, are you on an iPhone, I'm andriod and have the emojis on both the desktop and mobile versions. Can you see the M and the emojia don't come up whe you click or do you not even see the M?

😳

its there. Never noticed it before.

Blush

still fighting for app improvements though 😂 I had to select the Mn emoji a few times because it’s so tiny on my phone.

and yes I have an iPhone, I already have text size larger than standard but Mumsnet isn’t affected by jt

You can click on "see all" under the first OP post and get only the OPs posts. Then flip the thread to have most recent first so you don't have to scroll much.

Thank you! I hadn't spotted this before and it solves my issue completely!
