What does this actually mean? Women have been shoved in to one particular area to discuss certain issues and now being told we can’t discuss them. There was a lot of pushback on one thread where women were being gaslit and suddenly poof it’s gone. Women were very angry hence the high volume of comments. Now it seems that no one can see how angry we are, how is that helpful?

Hi OP

Thanks for raising this.
A vast majority of posts on that thread broke our talk guidelines.
We didn't feel that it was a civil discussion, which is really important for us when hosting this debate.

ChestermanBeach · 27/04/2023 10:10

The vast majority broke talk guidelines? Sorry, but that’s simply not true.

AlisonDonut · 27/04/2023 10:11

What isn't civil is

AlisonDonut · 27/04/2023 10:12

The men in women's spaces.

ReadersD1gest · 27/04/2023 10:14

God, define "incivil"? Confused. Has the meaning changed to "saying what some people would rather not hear"?

They weren't. It's not wrong to know and believe biological sex matters.

Ramblingnamechanger · 27/04/2023 10:20

So where has it got us, deleting the thread? Doesn’t change the reality of of our
“lived experience” Just more angry women who will be saying it more.

I think it’s clear that although mumsnet say this is a place where women can speak the truth and women’s voices matter, it’s not really true.

A few decisions lately show that they seem to be very much pleasing TRAs/men.

It’s not feeling like a place for women.

TidyDancer · 27/04/2023 10:38

Was this the Lucy thread?

Poor call imo if so MNHQ. Women need to be able to discuss the reality of this ideology and that does include real life occurrences of our rights, spaces and protections being trampled on.

I didn't see a single GC post that was factually incorrect so what was the actual problem?

NoFall · 27/04/2023 10:50

I read the whole thread. The vast majority of posts were fine. Standing up for women isn’t transphobic. The vast majority of posts were civil. But it seems the TRAs and the men have got the thread deleted. Shame on mumsnet.

AlisonDonut · 27/04/2023 10:51

It was jumped on by the ovenight 'be kind' brigade probably all from the USA and so of course they were going to report every single woman who says 'no'.

SiobhanSharpe · 27/04/2023 11:11

I am sorry to have missed this thread. I wonder if some bad faith actors instigated a pile-on with the aim of getting it deleted.
Is this ever considered as a factor before a thread is deleted, Mumsnet?

ThisSingleMama · 27/04/2023 11:18

Mumsnet will always find an excuse to delete trans threads. Always

Because they simply don't know how to handle the issue

Who knows. There’s been some terrible decisions as to threads that are left up and threads that are removed lately, as well as deliberate de railing of threads on a few threads which mumsnet seem oblivious to and have deleted. The threads about those threads have also often been deleted so it’s impossible to discuss as a group.

Don't be so daft. If this were true the entire FWR section and a large part of AIBU would go poof.

HatThatWearsYou · 28/04/2023 15:50

And now in another thread we have been threatened with suspensions for derailing a thread with polite genuine cake chat (as in recipes were shared) in between waiting for the OP to return.

Early in the thread OP flounced because they couldn't argue their "anyone who says they are a woman is one, womanhood is a construct" points with any coherency but the thread continued on to be an interesting and ongoing discussion.
