How do you post only part of a quote from a previous post? Can I do it on the app? (Apple)

I can do the whole post but not just some bits.

Hello @tobee that function isn't available right now. The thinking being that edits may be confusing especially if the context was lost. We'll have a discussion about it though so thanks for posting.

Copy and paste it, with a * at the start and the end. No spaces.

Just put an * at the start and end of the sentence you’ve copied and pasted, making sure there’s no spaces between the asterisks and the first/last letter.

So if you wanted to quote a poster who said “Hello”, you’d copy and as ye it and then ask * so it looks like this but without the spaces:

Hello

Or you can italic it using ^ instead of *

Just tried it and this happened?

Its because there's an asterisk in the actual quote, so it's only bolded between the first 2 asterisks

I don't think you can because if you can add an asterisk then that means you could also change what the quoted poster has said which could cause all sorts of trouble.
