Has anyone else had an invitation to join a new forum specifically linked to the sex board?

If it's just an invitation to join a womens forum, I don't get what the problem
is? If you don't want to, just ignore it.

There have been many splinter groups over the years. The ones I was invited to join were fun at first, but they didn't last.

it really does show you what MN offers.

If it's about a sex site & you don't want to join it. Just report it, if you can't just ignore it.

I've had an unsolicited PM inviting me to join femvox.net, a "site that caters to the voice of women". It's apparently arisen because of the "sex topic debacle".

People who send unsolicited PMs promoting other groups should be banned. It's an abuse of the PM facility. They're definitely sending them - they've said so on their forum.

It's not dodgy, AFAIK. I've had the same PM. I mean I obviously can't verify, but I know why the secondary site has been opened and why some people are over there.

Some people are very unhappy with the Sex Topic and very serious safeguarding/moderation concerns, as outlined on the thread linked below which is current in Site Stuff. Justine's original response was incredibly glib for such a serious concern raised by someone who clearly has a lot of experience in that regard.

Given MNHQ is apparently quite happy to allow people to post in the Sex topic after a 7-day registration period (decreased from 90 days for no good reason that I can tell) and then to combine that with a sex chat/hook up thread with I imagine quite dodgy PMs between people wanting to engage in...well, whatever they might want to engage in, I don't think they get to tell people they can't PM a link to each other (IF requested).

However I absolutely don't agree with spamming of people who don't know what it's about and haven't asked for it.

I am sticking around here for now until I have determined quite how seriously MNHQ take their duty of care to users, as well as potential minors accessing the site, and their responsibility to ensure they're not hosting illegal material. If they can't demonstrate that they actually do take this very seriously, I'm not going to stay.

I don't think it's dodgy. I received an invitation and was happy to get one. I've been here 16 years but haven't really 'enjoyed' MN for a long time.
so it's come at a good time for me.

The one for women who don't agree with Mumsnet's new 'sexed up' brand direction is legit as far as I can tell.
