Hi,
I’m getting a side bar covering almost all of the screen in safari, it won’t go when cross is clicked. I’ve tried quitting browser and refreshing etc. Looks like this picture. Any ideas?

And on Android Chrome

faustina · 23/09/2022 09:23

I'm still having the same problem with safari on a macbook. Can't install the latest OS because no room on my hard drive.

pinktransit · 23/09/2022 09:34

I'm having the same issue on Android Chrome. Have cleared cache, still the same.

ANewCreation · 23/09/2022 10:56

Same here. This is this page - the irony! - on chrome/android but i used duck duck go and it is fine.

Me also - Chrome on Android. Haven't been able to see any Mumsnet page since yesterday afternoon as the cross at the top of the menu doesn't do anything and the menu pops up on every page. Have borrowed a laptop to come on and see what's happening and found this thread

cannaethink · 23/09/2022 13:58

I'm also having this issue. I've updated Chrome but it's still there. I've downloaded the app to post this but I don't like it!!

HighlandCowbag · 23/09/2022 14:06

Same issue here. I accessed everything via a mn email link and it worked but can't see anything other than the annoying screen if I just search.

Squirrelblanket · 23/09/2022 14:48

Android phone, using Chrome, same issue. This is driving me crazy, please fix it!

I don't want to use a different browser or the app.

Roystonv · 23/09/2022 15:06

It's alright saying clear your cache as though we are idiots but if there is a fault that you have a solution for could you not let us know before we complain. I spent ages in the early hours trying to get rid of it. ALSO font keeps enlarging as though magnifying for no reason. Kindle Fire

nonamehere · 23/09/2022 15:22

I have the same problem- large header covering the top if the screen and bookmark facility disappeared. Chrome on Windows 10 laptop. I've tried clearing cache.

Me neither, why does only MN have these issues that you appear to be unable to fix. I've had to use a computer to post this, phone is Android and Firefox, why should I need to faff about changing to a different browser?

DawnMumsnet · 23/09/2022 16:23

Hi again,

We're really sorry this issue is still affecting so many of you and we're doing all we can to resolve this. Could you please let us know if there's still a problem if you switch to an Incognito / Private browser tab?

Thanks in advance.

It's OK for me if I use a private tab

Ditto.

However, just tried incognito as suggested and it does work on my Android phone (I'm typing this from my laptop). I'd rather not be restricted to Incognito use though so I hope this can be fixed.

DawnMumsnet · 23/09/2022 17:13

@IcedOatLatte and @WotNoLoobrush - thanks for letting us know that things are working in Incognito mode. If this is the case, it's almost definitely a cache issue in your browser... Removing the website data and clearing your cache for Mumsnet will (hopefully!) make it work again.

MinkyTunes · 23/09/2022 17:16

@DawnMumsnet Yes there's no issue if I switch to incognito mode (Android phone using Chrome browser)

MinkyTunes · 23/09/2022 17:32

@DawnMumsnet Thanks for the suggestions. Clearing the cache didn't work, but clearing the site cookies did work, so it is all back to normal thank you!

nonamehere · 23/09/2022 18:20

Ok on Incognito, on Chrome

LilyMumsnet · 23/09/2022 18:20

Thanks so much for letting us know @MinkyTunes - can everyone else try clearing Mumsnet cookies? Flowers

I did that yesterday and it didn't work.

Just cleared my cookies and cache again but hasn't worked for me

Turtleoo · 23/09/2022 18:43

Actually, I've fixed it (Chrome). I tried deleting cookies in the same place as I cleared the cache, which didn't work. But then I tried the steps on this site:

support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?hl=en-GB&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

for 'Clear cookies from a single site' and now it seems to be working

Thank you. That has worked!

That was an education. I've never had to do that before. Why has this caused a problem for some of us @DawnMumsnet?

EtiquetteQuestion · 23/09/2022 19:25

Thank you. Clearing cookies from a single site worked - thanks @Turtleoo
