It makes it so much harder for those of us with disabilities to read.

This is exactly my problem with it

Augend23 · 12/09/2022 17:03

Presumably it makes it harder for some people with disabilities to read but easier for others? Some sites have a monochrome option to provide a higher contrast version, is that not a useful thing?

I totally recognise that the black may have made it worse for some people but given its offered as an option on some other websites it feels as though the option either way would be the most accessible thing? Example attached.

Thank you for turning the heading black

I like the gesture, thank you MNHQ.

For those struggling with it, please can I ask how / why?

It's not actually black, it's "midnight", the same as the colour as the fonts used throughout the site. The contrast is actually slightly higher than the white on blue. I would have thought that would make it easier? I have no visual disability, so have no first hand experience.

EmmaH2022 · 12/09/2022 17:14

Came to say the same, thank you.

It's the higher contrast that makes it harder for me to read. The white just blurs. Black on white is ok but white on black is ureadable.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 17:15

i very much approve of the gesture

Rainallnight · 12/09/2022 19:14

I find it over the top and slightly ridiculous. There is no need.

KenzosFlower · 12/09/2022 19:22

Not appreciated here.

syntoandtoast · 12/09/2022 20:14

Thank you it's a lovely touch

Vinylloving · 12/09/2022 20:22

A just why from me too, why does this site need to make any 'comment' at all? I don't get it

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 12/09/2022 20:24

Neurodivergent here.

I’m just finding it weird because it’s different but I’ll absolutely adjust. I’ll probably end up preferring it tbh.

What I AM finding weird is the timing. I love the queen and have no issue with the sentiment but shouldn’t it have happened on Thursday/Friday or not at all?

MiddleParking · 12/09/2022 20:26

Yikes

PAFMO · 12/09/2022 20:27

Thank you.

TQIDLLTK · 12/09/2022 20:28

Thank you from Scotland MNHQ

ChandlersDad · 12/09/2022 20:29

Performative.

AnyFucker · 12/09/2022 20:29

I appreciate the gesture, thank you

It’s a temporary thing, I assume it will revert to normal after HRH funeral

a minority find the contrast difficult, I assume.

AdoraBell · 12/09/2022 20:30

Thank you

Ahf22 · 12/09/2022 22:05

Thank you mumsnet, a decent thing to do.

(you’ll never please all of the people all the time… but I expect you knew that) Wink

I wish you hadn't. Lots of people are not mourning.
