Can someone please tell me what the latest is on PM's?

it's annoying to tap on 'pm' to then have to write out the posters user name, have no confirmation it's correct, then have keys send the message iff before you've barely typed anything.

it's working like a chat, which might be good as an option, but it's not good when you just want to send a message.

one poor poster has just got about 10 chunks of message from me!! I just wanted to send a normal PM!!

Hi @TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination - sorry to hear you're having problems sending PMs. Can we please just ask which device you're using to view Mumsnet and which version of the site?

Hi again,

When we updated the site earlier in the year, we made some changes to the PM system so, rather than an 'inbox' style like an old email system where you only see one side of the communication, we've changed it to be 'conversation' style, more like WhatsApp or smartphone text messages.

You've said that messages are sending before you've finished typing them. Do you mean they're sending when you hit the return button? (ie before you tap the Send icon?) We're looking into this, but as a workaround for now, are you able to hold down the shift key when you hit the return button?
