I have purple threads I've read, purple ones I definitely haven't looked at, blue ones I've definitely read/definitely haven't read. So, the full variety. They change too so they aren't always the same colour they had been.

That is VERY strange indeed! We haven't managed to replicate this at all, so might need to try a few things to narrow down the possible causes.
Could you first clear cache just for Mumsnet and see if that helps? Doing that will log you out of your account and you'll need to re-consent to cookies. But that might fix it and if not will at least narrow down the options.
Just yell if you need any instructions on how to do that.

It is definitely weird... it's been going on for ages. It wasn't something that was bothering me particularly, just curiosity 😂
clearing the data has resulted in only read threads being purple (for now! I wonder if it will come back?)
Keep us updated but hopefully, that's sorted it!

Could you all (if you haven't already) try clearing your data? And then if you could let us know what device and browser you're on, that would be really helpful, too. We'll start looking into this in the meantime.
