There's far too many of all this stuff interspersed throughout all the sections of the forum. It drives me insane!

Huh?

JohnsShirt · 29/08/2022 00:43

Yes, they're really irritating.

Wakeywakeysleepyhead · 29/08/2022 00:48

Yup. Look.so amateur too, squashed up to the left indent beyond the other threads. I thought they'd have to be spam.
Never click on any of them.

OytheBumbler · 29/08/2022 00:51

Not keen either. I often check tv recommendations but never click on those threads. They just seem sponsored

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/08/2022 00:53

I agree. Distributing the annoying ads throughout the page instead of grouping them at the top is annoying and looks like a dogs dinner.

DawnMumsnet · 29/08/2022 13:42

Thanks for raising this, @MrsLeBouef - we're always open to feedback when we try something new Smile

We moved the promoted threads because they were taking too long to load at the top of the page (we've had quite a bit of feedback about that, too!)

Spreading them out should hopefully mean they’re less intrusive, but we're taking on board your comments.

No, it definitely makes them more intrusive.

Yes as you are wracking your brains trying to think what on earth does "whatever child's movie" have to do with Relationships.

Wondered if anyone else was irritated by this, there’s sooo many. Really irritating.

Catabogus · 30/08/2022 21:28

Yes, it makes them much more intrusive and unwelcome. Top of page was vastly better.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/08/2022 22:58

I would think the aim is to make the ads less easy to skip, and to get people to click on them thinking it's a real thread.

Skinnermarink · 30/08/2022 23:05

Yeah isn’t it a ploy to get more clicks? It was easy to ignore them when they were all bunched at the top.

HebeMumsnet · 31/08/2022 11:46

Hello again. Thanks for the feedback on this. It is unfortunately one of those situations where we aren't going to be able to please everyone but we're always glad to get feedback and we'll pass this thread on to the relevant people so they can follow the comments here.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 31/08/2022 11:50

Well they can be moved but life finds a way!!

Numbat2022 · 31/08/2022 11:53

I hate them being in the middle of the threads, they're intrusive and annoying. I assumed they were there so we accidentally click on them, instead of ignoring when they're at the top...
