Shouldn't the 'credit crunch' board be renamed 'cost of living'?

Maybe I'm being picky, but we're not in a credit crunch yet. Although I'm sure one's on the horizon, so maybe if you wait a bit it'll become relevant again.

There was some discussion previously about changing the Money and Credit crunch boards, and it was even MN that instigated it IIRC. But then nothing at all happened! I think the two boards should probably be consolidated. Credit crunch definitely sounds outdated, but maybe it's actually depressingly futuristic.

I wondered that exact same thing earlier today.

I thought the 'Credit Crunch' named after the sudden tightening up in lending procedures after the 2007/8 crash before which there were lot of 'unwise' lending policies like Northern Rock 125% mortgages and No Income No Job No Assets loan repackaging in the US?

I suppose it depends what sections Mumsnet needs to talk about money?

There's investments for 'investments', Money Matters seems quite general, people also post in Chat, or somewhat randomly in AIBU, but if people want help with budgeting, getting out of debt, increasing income, etc, I'm not sure Mumsnet is the best place TBH.

Too many people post advice that they think is correct, but is inappropriate for the OP, based on no information at all about the OPs circumstances or even completely wrong full stop, with the good advice often ignored or lost between posters looking to argue about how it's all the government's fault rather than letting the OP get practical advice about making the best of their situation and getting tailored advice for their circumstances.

I mean I suppose we could have that as the new title, but it's a bit long Grin

Yes, I think that would be a good name for it.
