Ah, not just me then! I tried to search a medical condition and couldn’t make it work, on any level.

It is absolutely terrible. The previous version was much better.

Hi all - thanks for the messages here. We honestly didn't go out of our way to make the Search function worse. There are a lot of different user requirements for Search - some people just want to find the most recent threads about baby carriers, for example. Our main reason for changing it was to make the basic Search function (which is used by most users) work better for most people. It is faster and it does bring up more recent relevant results than the old Search function.

We've read all of the feedback on the new Search and there are a few things we plan to do very soon (in the next few weeks):

1 - we'll bring back advanced search which will let you search posts
2 - we'll improve the date picker for basic search
3 - we'll make basic search remember your search filters when you hit back after reading one of the results
4 - we'll add "search by thread title" into basic search
5 - we'll make it more obvious how to get to the basic search page

Sorry again for the frustration this is causing.

I don't troll huntbut Ido search by username and it's a very usefulfunction. Advanced Search was never the best though I thought the worst bit was the Topics search part - the drop down menu needed to be looked at - but it was good enough. It's just been getting steaadily worse with every bit oftinkering.

Why on earth did you get rid of Advanced Search? I just don't get why you'd do that.

And what is with the check list of old timer posters that come up as suggestions when I try and search by username? Nappyaddict hasn't been here since about 2013 for example, how were these suggestions picked?

Just searched on a poster who has started a thread as wanted to read a thread she referred to

nope - search doesn’t pick her up as a poster who has ever started a thread. She has. Today!

Why fix what simply wasn’t broken?!
