...
I think the new update is pretty good?
Many of the issues people are reporting aren't actually issues - they just haven't played around with the options.

Just me?

OP posts:
urbanbuddha · 24/04/2022 05:33

It looks better, but links are very glitchy and the screen freezes randomnly.
But the major problem is that advanced search basically doesn't work as a search function so it's a "no" from me.

AlternativePerspective · 24/04/2022 05:41

I can no longer add emogi’s etc because they all just come up as “undefined” with voiceover.

Similarly can’t bold or underline etc text and there’s no longer the option to do it manually.

Great that it is more useable for some, but for many others accessibility

hasn’t even been a consideration.

Pawtriarchal · 24/04/2022 05:45

I like it. There’s more I would like, but I don’t dislike anything - oh apart from search which doesn’t seem improved. But, no big deal. It’s all good.

Saucery · 24/04/2022 06:34

I love it, it’s very crisp and clean and uncluttered. Hide Thread in Active, so you don’t have to go into the thread to get rid of it, Bold and Italics etc easy to access, pictures seem clearer.
It’s working as it should be for me, but I can see why some of the problems people are experiencing are annoying. The basic redesign though, fine.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 24/04/2022 08:50

I like it. As a pp said, it feel more crisp, clean and uncluttered than before so I find it far more restful to look at (I'm using Chrome on a laptop). The only improvement I can think of off the top of my head is for uploaded images to be larger. At the moment they're too small and the only way I can enlarge them is by manually doing it with my fingers on touchscreen.

SnowdropsInSpring · 24/04/2022 08:55

Yes. I love it.

Clear, easy to read (colours/ spacing etc) and there are some features that have been added back that I have missed (op/ my colour in posts etc etc).

People always complain when there are changes. It always takes a while to get used to things (everything - windows update/ office updates/ forums etc), but after while, it’s easy again and you can't remember how it was before.

Thank you for starting the thread.

SnowdropsInSpring · 24/04/2022 08:56

Ps - for the first time in a while EVERYTHING works (for me).

How do you hide threads from active? I can only see the option to hide when i'm on a thread. Confused

katepilar · 24/04/2022 10:21

I hate it. Reading from a PC, the font is smaller and has lots of space around which makes it hard to read. I am not fussed about most of the functions that other people mention.

MistyFuckingQuigley · 24/04/2022 10:31

Its fine, not much different really. I like that I can see a whole 1000 post thread on one page again, didn't like the 100 posts per page option. Also it seems that threads can go.over 1000 posts now which is good.

TeenPlusCat · 24/04/2022 10:34

I'm happy too. Not seeing most of the issues others are.

It is really hard developing things for multiple platforms/browsers/operating systems, so it is not surprising there are some bugs.

AnyFucker · 24/04/2022 10:35

It’s fine. I don’t really care, tbh

gamerchick · 24/04/2022 10:37

I'm not arsed. It's a bit unstable for me atm, pages not loading properly and freezing problems but hopefully will be sorted soon.

I’m on Safari on an iPad, not a phone, but if I click on Active there is a circle with a line in it to the right of every thread. That hides the thread from title alone.

VeganGod · 24/04/2022 11:19

It’s all good for me except the search facility doesn’t seem to work. It did, but now it doesn’t.

And I can’t search for myself, unless I’m missing something? I wanted to find a post I’d made but my name isn’t in the list to tick.

I’ve seen that some people are experiencing a lot more issues though, just trying to read posts.

WeAllHaveWings · 24/04/2022 11:27

I am trying to like it but not getting there yet. Preferred being able to read more user posts on the one page without scrolling as much, feel there is much more unused white space and also feels like more ads, but that might be because there is less text on a page.

Just feels very fragmented and interupted trying to read threads which I personally feel is more important than easier emojis/holding, which tbh are pretty basic functions.

It isnt unusable, but not an improvement and a poor user experience which is disappointing.

A580Hojas · 24/04/2022 11:29

It's alright. But the lack of Advanced Search is a big problem.

Imteresting, I don't seem to have this feature on the desktop version. Confused

Try the settings to enable this.

For advanced search, type anything into the search box and it comes up with a method of advance searching. With loads of filters.

Chewbecca · 24/04/2022 12:40

I don’t mind it, I can read it clearly. The only thing bothering me is the titchy photo sizes, I want to see the parking diagram clearly!

Whinge · 24/04/2022 12:42

Try the settings to enable this.

I can't see anywhere in settings to enable me to hide threads from active. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great, as right now I really can't see how to hide them from the desktop site.

I did it in Customise.
Is that any help?
Also checked on my phone and it’s enabled there, but there are 3 dots to click on and the options are Hide and Report.

Whinge · 24/04/2022 13:00

Thank you @Saucery, that's worked. I wonder why it didn't automatically enable for every user? But all sorted now, and it's nice to finally find something I like about the new site. Now if they could just sort out the brightness and adjust the text boxes to fit my desktop screen that would be great 🤣

Click on the minus button next to the thread. So much easier than before.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 24/04/2022 17:15

I really hate all the adverts in the middle of the threads.

can I do anything about that (I’m not paying to do it btw)?
