Mumsnet Talk re-platforming - Known issues update

Hi all,
As you probably know we re-plaftormed the site overnight on Tuesday (in order to move to a faster, more stable and secure site which would be easier to develop new features on). There are a number of issues and bugs as a result of the move that we are working through and we thought it would be a good idea to list them on a page which we can keep updated as we sort through the problems. Mumsnet is a very large, complicated and old site - we've been working on re-platforming for the best part of 3 years - so it's not a huge surprise there are some bugs but please be assured we are working our way through them will get to them all as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime I do apologise for any inconvenience and frustration - I know it's been a painful day and a half for some.

I still can't see all my watched threads in "Watching", only 15 migrated over. I found one of the missing ones via search but when I tried to rewatch it, the option said "unwatch"... Suggesting it's still watched, just not showing up on my list?

Also... this is something that's changed and is annoying me. Previously, I would scroll down "active", click on a thread and read it, then use the browser back button to go back to "active", and it would take me to the exact place in the list so I could continue scrolling down. Now, when I go back, the active list has refreshed and reordered itself. This happened as a bug on the old site a little while ago (various people inc me reported it via "site stuff") and it got fixed. Any chance this could be looked into again, please? (Thanks for persevering through all the bug fixes btw!)

Also, please, please reinstate the blue (or any coloured bar) between posts. It's so hard to read without it. It's just a wall of text. I know lots of people have mentioned this, but it's so bad!

Working notifications is so basic, such a fundamental part of a site like this, that it is blowing my mind MN released this in this state.

I get the concerns over site design and maybe a few glitches to sort. But to fuck up on something so utterly basic to the running of the site just amazes me. And I don't think MN really understands how much of a fuck up this is. It makes them look so bad.

And obviously, if it goes on like this, then people will just go elsewhere. What's the point of a social media site without notifications?

Is this a ploy to get you to subscribe to mn premium? 🤔

Not sure if these have been raised or if they are issues caused by the new platform. I’m on an iPhone using Safari.

1. Autocapitalising no longer happens after starting a new paragraph. Eg I press enter:

the next paragraph starts lower case where it used to autocapitalise.

2. If I want to link to a webpage, clicking the share button on the website and hitting copy (which puts the URL in clipboard) now doesn’t allow you to paste into a post. Nothing happens when you select paste. You have to go to the address bar, manually copy the URL and paste that in.

3. When you paste text or a link into a post it auto selects what you’ve pasted so if your next action is to type, it deleted what you’ve pasted. You have to unselect what you have pasted before you can continue typing your post.

Are you going to put thread authors' and last poster's name back on the thread list?

On app still can't access the menopause threads

Earlier today it looked like I had 1 notification but when I clicked on notifications it said there were none. Just now I found 2 notifications despite the red counter not showing any! I too would like to see the date/time of the OP and most recent poster shown next to the thread title to save clicking on threads that haven’t moved on since the last time I looked.

I have notifications for watched and TIO turned off in Settings. Despite this, my notifications are full of them and trying to click to get rid brings me to the Black Screen.

Still can’t access my private messages.

Also lost loads of my watched threads, which have not been returned (noted earlier in thread).
I can watch new threads and they go on my threads I'm watching list, but when I track down ones that used to be in my watch list but have now vanished, they are still marked as being watched by me, but I cannot get them back on my watch list.

Any chance someone could respond to the issues raised on this thread, as many issues marked as resolved are still present?

and yy to all the many other issues. A list of ‘what does work well’ would have been a lot shorter.

@NCTDN It doesn’t matter if you are subscribed to Premium (I subscribed to get rid of ads) because the new system doesn’t know if you are...

i can’t currently post via the app on an iPhone. Is there anything you can suggest as a fix?

Can we please have the refresh thread button back? I really miss it for threads that are moving fast. Yes I know I can refresh in browser but it's less convenient.

Either that or an auto refresh function as new posts are made, as some other sites do.

It really, really doesn't on a laptop. My phone is fine: smoother, even.

The laptop is almost unusable. Not buggy, just really poorly designed.

I'm not flouncing, but I used to spend a lot of time on Mumsnet on my laptop. Now I occasionally use it on my phone, but not much more. I understand it's free, and it's not the end of the world, and I'm not flouncing, but I am much less likely to pop onto Mumsnet than I was before.

Strangely, I can’t keep up with what’s been posted - because my notifications still take me to the first page of a thread. This is beyond annoying.

And getting rid of the “go to” box re pages is annoying, especially if they get to 20+ pages.
