Mumsnet Talk re-platforming - Known issues update

Hi all,
As you probably know we re-plaftormed the site overnight on Tuesday (in order to move to a faster, more stable and secure site which would be easier to develop new features on). There are a number of issues and bugs as a result of the move that we are working through and we thought it would be a good idea to list them on a page which we can keep updated as we sort through the problems. You can find that page here.

Mumsnet is a very large, complicated and old site - we've been working on re-platforming for the best part of 3 years - so it's not a huge surprise there are some bugs but please be assured we are working our way through them will get to them all as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime I do apologise for any inconvenience and frustration - I know it's been a painful day and a half for some.

Thank you to all those who've fed back and are helping us solve the remaining issues - it's really much appreciated Flowers.

I can only view the FWR Sex and Gender sub board if I'm not logged in. As soon as I log in I get a server 500 error and that stupid message about getting a strong cuppa.

I've tried 4 different mobile browsers and a laptop and they all do the same.

Along with Style and Beauty it was the board I used most. It's now unusable except for reading only.

It used to show at the top when MNHQ had posted on a thread - really useful if you'd flagged an issue - please can we have this back?

I keep being logged out and having to log back in again. I hope it's related to the new platform? The last time this happened was around the time of the hack (Jeffrey) so I'm a bit twitchy.

Can't delete emjois from your menu. Can delete ones I've typed from keyboard.

Keep having to login when I open a new tab/page

on ‘I’m on’ you see most recent posts but you used to be able to click on them and that would take you straight to the most recent post on the thread you’re on. But now you have to click on the title and then click all the way to the last page to see the most recent posts. Would love to be able to click on most recent comments again. Thank you!

I'm another one who can see threads when not logged in but when logged in it says there's an issue with the server. I can't see any further education boards now (just one example).

If I am logged in I keep getting the server down, error 500 message when I try to post on threads I am already on.

All my watched threads bar 2 have vanished.

Chrome on tablet and have updated chrome.

This is about the 4th time I have posted this message.

Would you consider going back to the old platform until you have sorted this one out?

Check your hidden topics in settings. I (and others!) have had this issue since the update, topics have been added to hidden topics (that I didn't do) which cause the error 500, once they've been removed from the hidden topics list it sorted the problem

Same here. Also very slow to load. Like dial-up slow. Android phone w. Chrome.

The active page on the app is full of ancient threads. Some from 2009, about toddlers who are teenagers now. It's a PITA and has put me off using the app (probably now bad thing I suppose).

I'm finding the new look pretty OK overall.

Only one gripe, which a few others have mentioned: when I'm scrolling through active topics, go into one, then hit the back button to return to active topics - they're all in a different order. The page has completely refreshed instead of just going back.

I would love if this could be fixed.

Thank you so much for this! I discovered Chat had been placed in the hidden topics.

Bloody Ads covering the corner of the screen! I have to click them off every single time I join a new thread. They were annoying on the classic version but now...I'm using DuckDuckGo on an Android tablet. I refuse to get Premium.

Sorry for the amateur graphics but I also get blank spaces at the top of active threads. I assume these are where thecadmin messages or posts should be.

Haven't read this full thread (primarily because the layout makes it too difficult to do that!) but I don't see anything about the problems of the mini-font for all the topic labels, thread titles in trending, navigation (active etc), etc., or the huge masses of empty space on the desktop, or the huge amounts of extra vertical space because everything is 1.5 spaced or double spaced, so it's just constant scrolling.

Those, plus the horrible miniature, impossible-to-see photos/images in posts, are some of the main things that are still making it unusable for me.

The lack of posting time and name for the most recent post is also annoying, but more trivial.

Other minor but poorly designed things include the fact that when you have to log in (repeatedly), the log-in page doesn't do things like automatically give your email addresses in predictive search the way many text-fields asking for emails do (on mobile devices). The predictive text can be adapted for specific fields, and that's really useful if yo uare having to put in an email address repeatedly. Of course, if you didn't have to keep logging in the get updated threads etc ,that would be less of an issue, but still - it shows attention to detail when the programmers bother to do little details like that.
