Mumsnet Talk re-platforming - Known issues update

Hi all,
As you probably know we re-plaftormed the site overnight on Tuesday (in order to move to a faster, more stable and secure site which would be easier to develop new features on). There are a number of issues and bugs as a result of the move that we are working through and we thought it would be a good idea to list them on a page which we can keep updated as we sort through the problems. You can find that page here.

Mumsnet is a very large, complicated and old site - we've been working on re-platforming for the best part of 3 years - so it's not a huge surprise there are some bugs but please be assured we are working our way through them will get to them all as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime I do apologise for any inconvenience and frustration - I know it's been a painful day and a half for some.

Thank you to all those who've fed back and are helping us solve the remaining issues - it's really much appreciated .

and the one thing I thought was fixed, the updating everytime you pressed the back button, is happening again

I've received and been able to read 2 new PMs today and I've been able to start new messages but I still have notifications for 2 messages I can't see?

Please fix the BOOKMARK

it is beyond annoying to bookmark several pages in but then just be returned to the top of the page rather than where you actually bookmarked.

Notifications are broken again! Taking me to the first page. After weeks of doing the right thing. (Safari, latest iOS, iPad mini)

Any update on local talk and the order?

Apologies if this has already been reported (I've had a quick look through but couldn't see it).

Randomly, all my private messages I've deleted over the years (especially when the site got hacked), have reappeared in my inbox!

And I mean all of them - dating back 11 years

Anyone else?

I've just checked and yep, same here. PMs dating back a decade that I know I deleted years ago!

Thanks @PartyGoose . Also there's no 'delete all' button for me, and I've given up trying to delete them one by one!

Please look into this as a priority.

Argh - the change of colour showing that there are new posts has gone haywire again so all the threads that I'm on are showing as having new posts

At least the bookmarks are still working, so I can go back into a random thread, check that there are no new posts from the bookmark and then work out if I need to check the threads below or once that one

Any comment from MNHQ on the apparent DDoS late last night and some issues still continuing?

I think communication has been pretty shocking all together MN.

There's been no Mod posts on here since the 28th, and on another part of the site you are warning of another data breach.

I'd very much appreciate having someone actually talk to us about all this!

There's been issues with Reporting some posts where people's email addresses have been visable. MNHQ are apparently contacting everyone effected but tbh the communication is pretty pants from what I can see.

It really is and MNHQ seem to be trying to sweep it under the carpet. Tbh I find the lack of responses to the stuff on this thread annoying but the lack of responses for the data breach just seem like a bit of a fuck you to users.

I notice that after getting told they changed their stance from might report themselves (for the serious data breach that absolutely should be reported!) to they will report themselves. Other posters are reporting them too.

Yeah, it's not good. I'm delighted that MNHQ have managed to secure high profile interviews with BJ and RS, but it really feels like concerns from users of the site regarding this botched new platform launch are very much taking second place at the moment.

Hi all, apologies for the delay in communication on this thread.

Here are some updates about the issues raised since our last update here.

Bookmarks are now working - if you bookmark a thread and go back to the main thread URL or the URL of the page with the bookmark then you will jump to the bookmark.

Images are now bigger - when you click in to view an image it should appear larger now

Threads I'm on / watching not showing when there are updates - this is taking a bit longer than expected but we will release these changes soon

@Zonder we're currently working on a change to the local thread order. We are changing it to show by most recently updated by default, with the option to change it to closest to location

@WaitroseWoman there was no DDoS attack, the issue with site speed and error messages appearing was due to a bug that has now been fixed

@prh47bridge we are looking into the issue with intermittent error messages appearing and pages timing out and have made some changes to the back end of our system so we can identify the issues more easily

@DragonwithoutaDungeon are PMs still an issue for you? If so it might be worth emailing directly so we can pick up a more focused conversation. Please email [email protected]

@BotCrossHuns I can't recreate the issue you raised regarding the pages updating when you press the back button - can you let me know where this is happening in more detail so I can look into it? E.g. when I click from active to a thread and back again

@bare thanks for raising that issue with punctuation on the app we will investigate

@BoreOfWhabylon I'll look into that issue with @ mentions not bolding some times and try to work it out - if you can screen record it and send it to [email protected] that would be super helpful! No worries if not - I will try to track it down!

So the DDoS message some of us got late last night wasn't anything to worry about, @KatyMumsnet ?

@WaitroseWoman that's right there is nothing to worry about. The error messages were server errors due to a bug that caused the website to temporarily go down - it's now been fixed

The updated threads is happening for example when I am in chat, click on a thread, then click 'back'. The thread titles are now in a new order.

Will the miniature font and the huge swathes of blank space be fixed at some point? From accessibility point of view, these are quite big issues.

The "bookmarks being fixed" has now created a new problem for me - if I bookmark a post then click "see all" to see all of the OP's posts, it just takes me back to the thread with the bookmark post. I can't use "see all" because all it wants to do is go to the bookmark.
