Mumsnet Talk re-platforming - Known issues update

Hi all,
As you probably know we re-plaftormed the site overnight on Tuesday (in order to move to a faster, more stable and secure site which would be easier to develop new features on). There are a number of issues and bugs as a result of the move that we are working through and we thought it would be a good idea to list them on a page which we can keep updated as we sort through the problems. You can find that page here.

Mumsnet is a very large, complicated and old site - we've been working on re-platforming for the best part of 3 years - so it's not a huge surprise there are some bugs but please be assured we are working our way through them will get to them all as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime I do apologise for any inconvenience and frustration - I know it's been a painful day and a half for some.

Thank you to all those who've fed back and are helping us solve the remaining issues - it's really much appreciated .

@DragonwithoutaDungeon would you be willing to do a screen share call with us so we can investigate the issue with your PMs? It should be working.

@NevermindNelson a fix for bookmarks is currently being developed so we will be able to release that soon.

@KatyMumsnet I'm not sure what screensharing involves.

As I've said quite a few times now... its not working - I'm not sure where "should be" comes into it and I'm actually getting quite pissed off about it.

Now oh joy of joys, bonus of bonuses! I can't send PMs anymore either I get an error message "apologies our server is having a moment"

And when were the PMs apparently fixed? There's been no update on it here...

@DragonwithoutaDungeon I mean that the majority of people are able to access PMs now so it’s not an issue that is happening to everyone. This means that issues like this are very hard to pin down because they are usually device/browser specific and to be able to fix the issue we need to recreate it on our own devices, but in this case we can’t. A screen share would involve setting up a call on zoom between you, me and a developer so you can share your screen and show us what’s happening and if we’re able to diagnose it in real time then we will be able to fix it. Apologies it’s not more straightforward!

@YetAnotherSpartacus we will fix that as part of the image update!

@KatyMumsnet can you look at the random lack of bolding when '@' ing posters please? They appear when typing but disappear when the post is made. As I say, this is completely random.

@KatyMumsnet No I'm not comfortable allowing anyone to do that with my laptop sorry. I've given you all the information I can.

Just to add that this PM issue has been going on for about 2 weeks now for me. And just because the majority have working PMs doesn't mean mine are automatically going to be working to. Should be doesn't enter into it.

I've been banging on about this for ages. The other mod asked for details to take names and get back to people but I assume that never happened either...

Is anyone else having a problem with a pop up CAPTCHA (?) screen which say MN is checking my browser, it then changes to an 405 error message screen? It's been happening repeatedly for about 10 minutes.

Yes, @FOJN, just started a thread about it. Issue appears to have resolved for me now.

Appears to have resolved now but no idea why it happened.

Whenever I try to use "Notifications" I get the dreary old joke about the server having a moment and requiring a strong cuppa.
It's been going on for over a week now and I can't get rid of notifications telling me I've been mentioned.
It's a small thing, but the red bubble is really annoying as is having to check all my "I'm watching" threads to see what's been updated.
And I hate the word "cuppa".

Why has everything suddenly gone teeny tiny when using iPhone? Barely usable all of a sudden.

Can any one explain why the > keep appearing? I'm on the app on an iPhone.

Local chat still coming up in a random order rendering it useless. Any chance of that changing?

I still can't see them and its' added not allowing me to send PMs either for the past week! Wth?

PMs generally work fine for me. However, if I stay on the PM page for a long time, it will sometimes give the "server is having a moment" message or occasionally a gateway error.

That's not what's happening for me. I've not been able to read 3 PMs for about 3 weeks and for the last week I haven't been able to send any at all. Every time I try, no matter how many times I've tried, for a week I have gotten the error message when trying to send a PM.

I know it's half term but it would be nice for some sort of update please @JustineMumsnet @KatyMumsnet

still no readable photos, still no decent size font, still no good layout that doesn't require tons of scrolling, still no threads I"m on/watching that actually remembers what you've seen, still no consistent post numbers, still lots of blank lines at the top, still more than half the screen empty, still mini page numbers....

pretty much nothing has been fixed for me.

Yes I am so disappointed at the lack of response especially regarding accessibility issues

Notifications of new posts on a thread still bring me back to the very first post. As a result I am using MN much less but am hoping that I will visit one day and the old site will have been restored.

Well clearly we aren't getting updates on Jubilee Weekend then...
