Just to flip the trend on it's head for a bit - what do you like about the update?

I like the typing text box

I've been here for two decades and witnessed a couple of these huge site changes. It's always the same with expected teething problems and a lot of posters hating it and saying they'll leave. Most of them are still here and get used to it really quickly.

I've realised with age that of course I don't like change. I hate getting a new phone for the same reason. We are creatures of habit. I loathe moving house too. But it gets better quickly. It's also not that different imho and I like several of the new functions.

Easy for photo uploads

Emojis are great, good choice
Easy to follow threads
I like the text of a quote being nested

Don't let folk bully you into a backwards move. If they want to leave, hope the door doesn't hit their butt on the way out 😀

That's a great business model. A large percentage of users are unable to log on. Many are unable to deal with the glaring white, and many are experiencing problems with PMs, notifications, etc etc malfunctioning, and are planning to leave or have already left. For a site that depends on traffic this is... not good.

The deathly silence from staff today would indicate they are aware this is a massive disimprovement overall/giant cockup.

But photos load more easily! Shame they are tiny when you click on them to enlarge now.

Soz, not in spirit of thread. I like that I can unbookmark. That is all.

I agree that change never goes down well but people get used to it.

However the app doesn’t seem to be working at all at the moment. There are very few threads and I can’t post there.

NoSquirrels · 21/04/2022 07:32

It’s absolutely fine for me. The only thing I particularly dislike about the update is the volume of moaning threads about the update.

I’m sorry for all the ND posters and those with genuine accessibility concerns, and I’ll assume the devs are looking at that as a matter of urgency, but otherwise it’s fine.

The UX is now mobile-first, I assume, as I’m using a phone and a lot of the complaints seem to be desktop/computer users. And absolutely shit tons of them seems to have been using the ‘classic’ option so no wonder it’s a shock. I didn’t even realise there was a classic version!

@AnImaginaryCat and @Snowiscold Thanks for both your comments. Good to know it’s a problem at my end. Will investigate as it’s driving me bonkers.

There's nothing I like about it yet. Everything is squished over to the left, the nested quotes are seriously awful and the site is virtually unusable due to the bloody cookie consent.

I think it's been rigidly designed for portrait view which is crap. Lots of people use a tablet. Most sites manage to accommodate both portrait and landscape.

maybe once the site is actually usable I'll find positive things to say but, despite all the apparent testing, it's not there yet.
