Anyone else's < creepy wee brackets > making text disappear?

SpinningMeSoftly · 20/04/2022 09:58

Since the platform change, I've noticed that if I write text inside < creepy wee brackets > like this but without the spaces, the text and the brackets are invisible in the post; thus depriving the world of my witty asides.

<sidles in> ...now I want to test it too

ScrambledSmegs · 20/04/2022 12:49

I already knew it would do that, I just wanted to join in Grin

Oh this takes me back. Invisible posts, invisible threads, invisible topics - back when this were all fields...

HopeMumsnet · 20/04/2022 12:50

WAAH! My < sidles in > a disparu!

HopeMumsnet · 20/04/2022 12:50

Gingernaut · 20/04/2022 12:53

Using the creepy wee brackets without the spaces means there's no text.

SpinningMeSoftly · 20/04/2022 12:53

Cool, huh?

AbsolutelyNebulous · 20/04/2022 13:23

Is this the strike through thingy and did we have it before?

FlibbertyGiblets · 20/04/2022 13:26

Hope remember - no spaces between bracket and text.

Have another go!

ScrambledSmegs · 20/04/2022 13:27

Yes it is and yes we did @AbsolutelyNebulous

AnnesBrokenSlate · 20/04/2022 13:34

Hoppinggreen · 20/04/2022 13:37

I cant type messages at all on my ipad
I have switched to my laptop to type this

SpinningMeSoftly · 20/04/2022 17:34

I suppose, given all that's been going on with MN today, it's just an amusing quirk. One for the journal and all that.

Brackets are used in HTML to leave comments that can only be seen when you view the code. Maybe if you use double brackets, I'll try <<test>>
