... please can you stop it re-appearing on every single page refresh?

@KatyMumsnet It didn't come up on my older browser (which I've already seen won't work on the Beta site). Only saw it when I changed device to the one which did work on the Beta.

It only need to come up once a session when first logging back in ..

Please put in an 'I've read this' button, its easy enough.. (if you have any techies) .. Banks etc do this all the time

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 04/03/2022 18:56

It's so annoying !

Zazdar · 04/03/2022 18:56

I’ve never seen it either.

sadpapercourtesan · 04/03/2022 18:56

It is an unusually emetic shade of orange, @KatyMumsnet. Bravo for that, it's quite impossible to ignore Grin

SoupDragon · 04/03/2022 18:57

it's really important that people see it

If it's so important, why are some not seeing it?

OP posts:
RaoulDufysCat · 04/03/2022 18:59

Yes, yes, yes to the 'I've read this button'. I have now read it so many times I want to scream.

And my browser is up to date anyway so it's irrelevant to me.

Laska2Meryls · 04/03/2022 19:01

Ill be back when you've switched over then...

What date/time is it going over ? You must have it scheduled ?.. ( I cant be a$$ed to read it al again )

KatyMumsnet · 04/03/2022 19:01

Hi again,

Apologies for this, we're using a new tool and we're having some teething problems!

We've taken it down for now and will make some tweaks before putting it back up.

Thanks,

Katy

I hope you've got the gin in for when the new platform goes live then 😂

I'm still seeing it.

Just FYI. It's annoying on par with the red and then green Christmas box. That's a lot...

MintMocha · 04/03/2022 19:18

I'm still seeing it too, repeatedly!!

If this is an indication about how well the new site is set up and tested, I can't imagine how buggy that will be.

And people should not have to have up to date browsers to use new sites. To get all the latest features, yes, but not for basic functionality, and they shouldn't be getting repeated messages that they aren't. It's basic web design, to make sure a site works to a reasonable extent even on the oldest browsers. Not everyone's computer supports all the latest and greatest versions - they might have very old operating systems (I only upgraded from an old Mac, like 2014 or even earlier, last week).

MintMocha · 04/03/2022 19:20

And if it's targeted properly, you should know what browsers and operating systems people are using, and only target those whose browsers are not the most up to date that their operating system can support. If it isn't programmed well enough to do that, then surely getting that fixed, rather than just spamming everyone with the message, would be the way to go for a professionally designed site?!

BIWI · 04/03/2022 19:43

Please don't introduce the new platform on a Friday night!

YforWanky · 05/03/2022 06:55

If it's really important how come I've literally never seen it? Confused

KatyMumsnet · 11/03/2022 09:59

Hi all,

Just to let you know, we're about to put the orange banner back on-site as we're going live with the new Mumsnet Talk platform on Monday night.

We need to get the message to as many users as possible as they may need to reset their Mumsnet password (if they've forgotten it) and they may need to update their browser.

We've fixed the banner now so if you press the X to close it then it won't show again in your current session on the site. Just wanted to let you know before it goes live again.

Thank you!

Nope - I’ve pressed x seven times now and it keeps popping up on every new page.
YforWanky · 11/03/2022 10:39

I've still never seen it Hmm

Is it because I'm a premium member, does that remove this banner too?
@MNHQ please take note. Once it's been dismissed, it doesnt need to come back. BUT how do I know if my browser is suitable or not? What classes as old in MNHQ speak?
Yes I would like to know this too.
iOS 13.7 safari

KatyMumsnet · 11/03/2022 14:39

Hi, @Rummikub we think iOS 12 and under will be the versions that start to have issues

Rummikub · 11/03/2022 15:12

Oh phew
Thank you!
